“The Dodge//SRT Mile-High NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil has delivered unforgettable moments for more than 40 years and we are excited to again kick off the Western Swing at Bandimere Speedway in 2022,” said John Bandimere, Owner of Bandimere Speedway. “The fans in the Denver area are truly some of the most passionate in drag racing, and the thrilling challenges of the race and the incredible atmosphere on Thunder Mountain always makes it one of the most memorable events of the year.”

The event will be the 11th of a 22 race campaign during the season and will continue to be the open race for the NHRA’s famed “Western Swing”. The Mile-High NHRA Nationals has been a fan-favorite event for more than four decades. It offers a unique challenge to racers with the racing surface featuring an elevation of more than 5,800 ft.

This past season, after more than a decade of attempts to conquer the mountain, Mopar-backed Funny Car pilot Matt Hagan finally hoisted the Wally trophy at his primary sponsor’s longtime title event. Since then, Hagan has announced that he and his team will be moving over to Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) for the 2022 season.

Fans got excited Wednesday evening after Leah Pruett posted some pictures and videos to her social media accounts showing the team moving some equipment into the TSR facility, which included a lot of equipment including haulers and a pair of Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Funny Car bodies with that Hagan campaigned with late this season.

Stewart claimed we might hear something about new sponsorships as early as next week at the 2021 Performance Racing Industry show in Indy, this next week. We are confident we will see both Hagan and Pruett back at Bandimere Speedway in 2022 under the Dodge//SRT and Mopar colors there once again.
