Ram Introduces Its All-Electric ProMaster EV For 2024

Besides Being All-Electric, A New Delivery Model Is Available As Well...

The dawn of a new era in commercial electric vehicles has arrived with the introduction of the 2024 Ram ProMaster EV. Beyond its sleek design and technological prowess, the beating heart of this revolutionary van lies in its state-of-the-art powertrain, setting new standards for performance, efficiency, and sustainability.

At the core of the ProMaster EV’s powertrain is a cutting-edge 110-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack. This high-capacity battery serves as the powerhouse, supplying the electric drive module (EDM) with the energy needed to propel the van forward. The strategic positioning of the battery under the floor ensures a low center of gravity, enhancing stability while preserving cargo space.

The ProMaster EV’s EDM is a marvel of engineering, delivering an impressive 268 horsepower and 302 lb.-ft. of torque. This EDM propels the van with agility and speed, showcasing that electric power doesn’t compromise on the performance expected from the Ram brand.

Range & Charging –

One of the standout features of the ProMaster EV’s powertrain is its targeted range of up to 162 miles in city driving conditions. This is a testament to the efficiency of the electric system, offering a range that aligns with the demands of urban logistics and last-mile deliveries. The powertrain’s efficiency isn’t just about the distance it can cover; it’s about doing so in an environmentally conscious manner.

Charging the ProMaster EV is a user-friendly experience, thanks to its versatile charging options. The Level 3 DC fast charging capabilities range from 50kW to 150 kW, allowing users to adapt their charging strategy based on time constraints. Additionally, the Level 2 wall box charger with up to 11 kW provides a convenient option for regular charging needs. The illuminated charge port and audible confirmation enhance the overall charging experience.

Unibody Design & Front-Wheel-Drive –

While the ProMaster EV shares its foundation with the reliable ProMaster architecture, it has been meticulously designed for electrification. The unibody design not only ensures structural integrity but also cleverly incorporates the battery pack beneath the floor. This design choice maintains a flat cargo floor, offering practicality without compromising on the van’s payload and cargo volume.

The ProMaster EV showcases front-wheel-drive capability, a feature that not only contributes to its dynamic performance but also enhances maneuverability. The 200 kW EDM efficiently distributes power to the front wheels, providing traction and control in diverse driving conditions.

Cargo Volume & Payload –

Cargo-handling capability is a top priority for van buyers, and the ProMaster EV delivers with an expansive 524 cubic feet of cargo space. The interior boasts a best-in-class cargo height of 86 inches, a low load-floor height, and a cargo width between wheel wells that accommodates various cargo types. The ProMaster EV’s cargo volume remains unchanged from its internal combustion engine counterparts, maintaining practicality while embracing electrification.

The ProMaster EV cargo van offers remarkable payload capacities, further enhancing its commercial utility. With up to 3,020 pounds of payload in the cargo model and 2,030 pounds in the delivery configuration, businesses can confidently transport a substantial amount of goods, making the ProMaster EV an ideal partner for last-mile deliveries and various vocational applications.

Diverse & Upfitter-Friendly –

Recognizing the diverse needs of businesses, the ProMaster EV offers five configurations, including two roof heights, two cargo lengths, and two body styles. This results in cargo lengths of 12 feet and 13.5 feet, providing versatility for different industries. The ProMaster EV’s most vertically oriented sidewalls in the cargo van category, nearly 90 degrees in relation to the cargo compartment floor, contribute to maximizing cargo space.

Ram Commercial is renowned for providing upfitter-friendly offerings, and the ProMaster EV continues this tradition. Featuring a standard upfitter electrical connector and an integrated cab configuration, the ProMaster EV facilitates easy upfitter/conversion solutions. With virtually all primary vehicle systems packaged forward of the cargo area, upfitting for various commercial needs becomes a seamless process.

An All-New Delivery Model –

The introduction of the new Ram ProMaster EV delivery model marks a significant milestone in Ram’s electrification journey. Tailored for last-mile operations, this model offers businesses a cutting-edge solution for efficient and sustainable delivery services. Boasting a 159-inch wheelbase, the ProMaster EV delivery model provides a spacious platform for cargo, ensuring businesses can transport goods with ease. The extended super-high-roof option adds an extra layer of versatility, accommodating larger or bulkier items.

Driver comfort is prioritized with available features like a heated steering wheel and heated windshield, enhancing the overall delivery experience, especially in colder climates. Safety and security are elevated with additions such as Park Sense with stop, white noise backup alarm, and a “normal” backup alarm. With its innovative design and advanced features, the ProMaster EV delivery model stands as a game-changer, meeting the evolving needs of businesses committed to a sustainable and efficient future.

I can't find any information on where the power-train and batteries are sourced from. I'm curious to know if it is simply the European pieces imported, and if they had to make any changes for North American conditions.

All in on this electric Pro Master van. Think this is a perfect application for this type of power and commercial depots and facilities would have the resources to support its maintenance and usage. Average customers do not, should not currently or be coerced into buying into this premature use of this power source and as sales are showing clearly, they will not. Commercial si, Personal no.
That said, Ram, though Fiat, is taking the lead on this obvious opportunity.
Go electric!
