Automotive Scene: We Went To M1 Concourse Cars & Coffee:

Mopar Vehicles New & Old Highlight Meet...

This past Saturday, we were up before the break of dawn to attend the monthly Cars & Coffee event at M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan. Pontiac, Michigan is a suburb of Detroit and located just a few miles from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Chrysler Technology Center in Auburn Hills, Michigan. While it seems like there are nearly a dozen different Cars & Coffee events, one of the bigger ones is the event at M1 Concourse.

For those who aren’t familiar with M1 Concourse, M1 Concourse is an 87-acre playground for auto enthusiasts that includes a secure community of 250+ Private Garages and a state-of-the-art 1.5-mile Performance Track with its own private Motorsports Club. Located right off of Woodward Avenue, the track is home to the Roadkill Nights event and Dodge is also a sponsor of the facility providing pace cars and track cars for the 1.5 mile Champion Motor Speedway road course.

The Cars & Coffee event has a different featured manufacturer each month. This month is was Mopar-based cars. That includes even the extended Mopar family brands, from orphaned brands to the recent extended brands like FIAT, Alfa Romeo and Maserati.

While we arrived at the track, the sun was just appearing over the horizon. While the recent week in Southeast Michigan has been a wet one, the morning was a very dry and crisp fall Michigan day with temperatures in the low-40s. Perfect weather to grab a donut and a hot cup of coffee and talk cars.

Being the home of the big-3 automotive manufacturers, the Metro Detroit area has an amazing range of cars. From muscle cars to exotics to European track cars if you are looking for anything in the automotive spectrum, you will find it along the Woodward Avenue corridor.

But our focus was Mopars and the event did not disappoint. It didn’t matter if you were looking for Vipers, Jeeps, Mopar muscle cars, limited editions, the Mopar diehards turned out strong.

While much of the cars were the current modern Mopar muscle cars, we saw a Jeep Scrambler CJ-8 powered by a modern 6.4-liter HEMI SRT 392 V8, a 2011 Dodge Challenger V-10 Drag Pak (equipped with a passenger seat), a fully customized authentic diesel-powered Jeep J-8 military truck customized by well-known Jeep aftermarket company Black Forest that appeared at SEMA, a few 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demons, a bunch of different Vipers just to name a few.

It was a great way to start off our weekend, drinking coffee and talking Mopars with other car enthusiasts.
