Maserati Says Farewell To Its V8 Lineup With The 334 Ultima

207 MPH Ghibli Sedan Shows Off The Greatest Maserati V8, One Last Time...

Amidst an industry-wide shift towards electrification, Stellantis continues to push its brands away from V8 engines and toward electrified powertrains. Dodge has already bid farewell to its legendary HEMI® V8 engines in its modern-day muscle cars. Maserati, too, is acknowledging this trend by paying homage to its V8 legacy with the limited-edition Maserati Ghibli 334 Ultima—a final ode to its high-performance V8s.

In 1959, Maserati carved its place in history with the bespoke 5000 GT Scià di Persia, a marvel housing a bespoke V8 engine tailored exclusively for the Shah of Persia. Fast forward to the present, echoes of this heritage resound in the 103 exclusive editions of the Ghibli 334 Ultima, elegantly adorned in the opulent Blu Sera paint.

Since its debut in 1967, the Maserati Ghibli has flawlessly melded performance and style, captivating admirers with its geometric design and a powerhouse V8 engine.

Enter the Ghibli 334 Ultima, a beacon for enthusiasts seeking exclusivity and performance. This special edition elevates the Ghibli’s prowess, emphasizing aerodynamics and subtle enhancements that effortlessly captivate onlookers.

At its core lies the secret to its performance: the figure 334, signifying its top speed of 334 km/h or approximately 207 mph, solidifying its status as the world’s fastest sedan. Maserati amplified the Vmax of the traditional Trofeo from 203 to 207 mph for this special edition. Beyond sheer speed, meticulous engineering tweaks in weight and tire composition have slashed the 0-60 mph acceleration to a breathtaking 3.9 seconds.

Under the hood, the Ghibli 334 Ultima boasts a 572 horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter F154 V8 engine—a masterpiece defining Maserati’s legacy. This powertrain delivers an exhilarating experience, harmoniously blending power and refinement.

Beneath its refined exterior, new performance tires and 21-inch Orione rims, combined with a rear carbon fiber spoiler, optimize aerodynamics for peak performance. The exterior pays homage to its V8 lineage with the Scià di Persia paintwork and Rubino accents, proudly showcasing the 334 logo on the fender.

Step inside this automotive masterpiece, where nostalgia intertwines with luxury. The interior exudes elegance with Pale Terracotta leather and Alcantara touches reminiscent of iconic Maserati designs. The Trident and 334 logos grace the seats and central tunnel, emphasizing the exclusivity of being “one of 103.”

As Dodge bids farewell to its celebrated HEMI® V8s, embracing electrification, Maserati similarly acknowledges the winds of change, marking the Ghibli 334 Ultima as a poignant farewell to the era of high-performance V8 engines in the Stellantis stable.

Robert, one of us has to be wrong since the cracks are already emerging in the Stellantis plan for electrification and I believe that plan will be scrapped as demand for all electric passenger vehicles evaporates. I’m not saying that commercial applications could see growth as a viable application of electrics, especially in small and mid-size urban vans, that can absorb some of the insane investments that Stellantis has made in their ill conceived plan. You seem to accept the spin, the fantasy that has been spewing from automakers to satisfy elements in government that are being shown the door globally in short order. The tide has turned big time.
Clearly the tea leaves predict the same outcome in the US elections and with that, a return to normalcy and reality will put the nail in the green movement and leave Stellantis out in the cold. What these cracks are showing is that few ever believed in this over ambitious plan and gas power vehicles will be in these cars long term. Am I right Robert?
Maserati may deep six the V-8 but I doubt they will go all electric. No transition, so quit buying into that foolishness already, unless your right and Stellantis goes belly up.

Let’s put it this way.
BMW, Audi and Porsche slowed down their plan for full and only electric models and decided to continue to invest in ICE engine and models.
They must have realized something that Stellantis is ignoring.

Without looking at the sales numbers, Maserati likely sells at a vastly lower volume than any of those companies. It makes sense for low volume brands to move to EVs quicker than others.
