AUCTION: 2009 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak #11 / 100

With Ray Barton-Power Under The Hood...

This 2009 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak, a limited-production track-only vehicle, is now up for grabs. With only 100 units manufactured for the model year, this particular example, No. 11, showcases the epitome of drag racing prowess. Originally designed as a customizable rolling chassis for NHRA drag racing, this Drag Pak has been equipped with a fuel-injected 6.4-liter (392 cubic-inch) HEMI® V8 engine, a TorqueFlite 904 3-speed automatic transmission, and a Dana 60 rear end with 4.88:1 gearing.

Finished in an elegant Stone White hue with striking black Mopar and 392 side graphics, the Drag Pak flaunts an aggressive aesthetic. Its matte black carbon-fiber lift-off hood, featuring a functional hood scoop, demands attention. The vehicle sheds unnecessary weight by removing windshield wipers, side mirrors, and side and rear impact beams, resulting in a significant reduction of approximately 1,000 pounds compared to its contemporary counterpart, the Challenger SRT8. Additional exterior features include halogen headlights, fog lights, a front air dam, and polycarbonate door windows. A battery kill switch is also integrated into the design.

Built for ultimate performance, the Drag Pak is equipped with an array of components designed to dominate the drag strip. Polished 15-inch Champion Wheel Speed Series five-spoke wheels are adorned with Mickey Thompson ET Drag slicks, providing the necessary grip for quick launches. Stopping power is ensured by cross-drilled rotors with Mopar calipers. The car features an unassisted rack-and-pinion steering system and an adjustable suspension. To further enhance its performance capabilities, Mopar shortened the wheelbase by half an inch compared to the standard Challenger’s 116-inch measurement.

The cockpit of the Drag Pak exemplifies its racing pedigree. Viper-sourced bolstered seats with Alcantara inserts offer both comfort and support during high-speed runs. Deist 3-inch quick-release five-point harnesses keep the driver securely in place. Notable interior features include a Turbo Action Cheetah SCS shifter, a driver-side window net, and a 6-point roll cage for added safety. In a bid to minimize weight, the climate control and sound systems, airbags, rear seats, body sealant, and sound-deadening materials have all been removed, emphasizing the vehicle’s dedication to uncompromising speed.

At the heart of this Drag Pak resides a Ray Barton–prepared, fuel-injected 392 HEMI V8 engine. The engine has been positioned rearward to enhance weight distribution, while a carbon-fiber air intake plenum and a Marshall fuel pressure gauge further optimize performance. The engine’s parameters can be fine-tuned via an AEM Infinity ECU management system. Power is effectively transmitted to the rear wheels through a TorqueFlite 904 3-speed automatic transmission, an ATI stall converter, and a Dana 60 rear end boasting 4.88:1 gearing.

The 2009 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak, currently listed for auction on BringATrailer.com, is accompanied by a plethora of extras. Manufacturer’s literature, spare parts, springs, gears, and pedals will be included in the sale. Notably, this particular Drag Pak was acquired by the current seller in March 2022 through a successful bid on the same platform. While the car is not street-legal, it comes with a bill of sale and promises an exhilarating experience exclusively on the drag strip.

For avid drag racing enthusiasts, the opportunity to own a 2009 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak represents an exclusive chance to embrace the power, performance, and raw excitement of the 1/4-mile. Bidding ends on Tuesday, September 26th at 1:25 p.m. EDT.
