Vipers Are Going For A Record Amount, This Rare Viper Is Going For Over $200K...

We have been talking a lot about Viper prices over the past month and how some of the iconic Dodge supercars are going for record numbers. The Dodge Viper was the ultimate American supercar for a 25-year span and since Dodge ended production of the legend after the 2017 model year, prices for the nameplate on the used market have continued to soar.

We recently saw one low-mile 1996 Dodge Viper GTS Coupe taking in $148,000 at Mecum this month. Showing that the first year for the second-generation or “GEN II” Viper is still one of the most sought-after models. Only 1,166 of the cars were produced for 1996, but there are a number of rarer and more unique packages out there on the market.

In 2015, Dodge opened the GTC program for the fifth-generation or “GEN V” Viper. The GTC program allowed customers to create more than 25 million unique build combinations, ensuring that each hand-built Viper was truly unique. GTC customers could choose from 8,000 exterior color options, 24,000 custom stripe colors, 11 wheel options, 16 interior trims, 7 aero packages, 3 brake packages, and 4 suspension options. The program would continue through the 2017 model year when the Viper was canceled.

The car is currently being sold by well-known Viper dealer BJ Motors in Tomball, Texas. The asking price is $209,995 USD. That’s right, over $200,000 for the car. So has the Viper community gone mad, or has the Viper proven itself as a true collectible and not just the raw driver’s sports car that it was known for a quarter of a decade?

Let us know in the comments and thoughts below or in the MoparInsiders forums, what you think of the ongoing inflated Viper prices.
