UPDATE: Meet The 2019 Dodge Charger GT RWD:

GT Package Goes Rear Wheel Drive:

In 2018, Dodge introduced that all of their Charger all-wheel drive (AWD) models would carry their GT trim name to align the Charger lineup with the Challenger lineup. The Dodge Challenger had gotten an AWD package for the 2017 model year carrying the GT name. On Charger, the  new trim level meant that the big Dodge sedan would no longer offer an AWD option on the SXT and SXT models. The marketing team worked along side the engineers to create a more sporty package for the Charger AWD model, by listening to customer input.

For the new Charger GT trim, two available packages were created with GT and GT Plus. Horsepower was boosted to 300 horsepower for the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 across all GT models. Other goodies for the GT packages were the addition of “Sport” mode which was only available on V6 models with the Super Track Pak option, 3.07 axle ratio, Steering Wheel Paddle Shifters, Dodge Performance Package and 19-inch wheels.

The GT Plus package separated itself from the standard GT Package by offering options like auto adjust dimming exterior and driver’s mirrors, bi-function HID projector head lamps, blind spot and cross path detection, memory power heated seats, heated second row seating, heated leather wrapped steering wheel, leather seats, and well as memory radio and mirrors.

Another package you could add was the GT Performance Package on GT Plus models. This package would add unique 19-inch painted wheels with dark pockets, satin black one-piece spoiler, power tilt/telescoping steering column and Nappa/Alcantara Performance Seats.

While Dodge has yet to announce anything, sources close to MoparInsiders have stated that most of the same options from the Dodge Charger GT AWD models will make it into the RWD version of the car for the 2019. Yes, Dodge plans on releasing a RWD version of the popular GT AWD package. The big difference between the two GT cars will be how the RWD cars will sit an inch lower than their AWD counterparts and will of course wear 20-inch wheels, instead of the AWD model’s 19-inch wheels.

We don’t expect Dodge to release any new information about the package until this fall, more than likely when the 2019 Dodge Charger media material is embargoed on September 1st, 2018. Until then, be sure to check back to MoparInsiders for the latest information on the 2019 Dodge Charger news and spy shots.
