Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida Q4 Brings AWD Power And Efficiency

Smallest Alfa Romeo Gains Advanced All-Wheel Drive From Jeep® Avenger 4xe

Alfa Romeo has officially introduced the all-wheel-drive (AWD) version of its new subcompact model, the Junior Ibrida Q4. This marks a significant step forward for the brand, offering an efficient hybrid system combined with advanced traction capabilities. Sharing its AWD system with the Jeep® Avenger 4xe, the Junior Ibrida Q4 brings Q4 AWD technology to Alfa Romeo’s smallest offering.

The hybrid system pairs a turbocharged 1.2-liter I3 engine producing 136 horsepower (101 kW) with two 21-kW electric motors. This combination results in a total output of 145 horsepower (108 kW). The electric motors are split between the axles: one is integrated into the 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission on the front axle, while the other powers the rear axle. This innovative setup provides AWD without a physical connection between the axles, ensuring optimal weight distribution and enhanced efficiency.

One of the key features of the Junior Ibrida Q4 is its Power Looping Technology, which ensures AWD capability even when the battery charge is low. This system keeps the rear motor engaged, offering consistent traction on various road surfaces and in different weather conditions.

In terms of suspension, the Junior Ibrida Q4 debuts MultiLink independent rear suspension on this platform, providing superior comfort and exceptional handling. This setup helps absorb uneven terrain, enhancing the ride quality and stability in all driving conditions.

Performance aside, the Junior Ibrida Q4 also excels in efficiency, with CO2 emissions below 120 g/km. The model achieves an excellent balance between performance and environmental impact, making it a standout in its segment.

The Junior Ibrida Q4 comes with Alfa Romeo’s DNA drive mode selector, offering different settings to suit various driving conditions: Dynamic for sporty performance, Natural for everyday use, Q4 for low-grip situations, and Advanced Efficiency for optimized fuel economy.

Inside, the Junior Ibrida Q4 features premium amenities, including Spiga seats with heating and massage functions, an electric driver’s seat, and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with navigation. Other highlights include Full LED headlights, 18-inch aluminum wheels, a 180° rearview camera, and a hands-free electric tailgate.

I have owned 2 Alfa... and I can tell you I would not even drive for free that Grotesque monstrosity. How that made it out of Milan is a true mystery. Coach work of ECMP for most part has been well executed especially on the Jeep but this thing is so far afield it is astounding.

I'm sorry, I see the whole lineup of eCMP vehicles as the automotive equivalent of the electric rental scooters found along the curbs in city downtowns. Those scooters offer a transportation alternative and I'm not mocking them. It is just sad that some of the vehicles are saddled with yesterday's platform using engines and transmissions built down to a price. I can't speak for the EV versions since I'm not that familiar with them. The Fiat 600 looks good, as does the Jeep Avenger. The Abarth version of the Fiat 600 has a very beautiful interior. There are Stellantis products being sold with the newer platform such as the Grande Panda, but there again the ICE option is the 3 cylinder Pure Tech.

This all reminds of the same candy, different wrapper philosophy which doomed GM back in the 1990's.

Honestly I understand a bit Jeep and Peugeot are the only Universal Brands.... The Fiat, Lancia, Opel, and Citroen are all more regional based Nationalism.

So, I get it, I don't agree but I get it. So when doing Coachwork and that is the distinction of that model, it must look the part.... and honestly all of them look the part except the Junior is almost polar opposite of what the Alfa brand is, Elegant and Sporty. The Grandfather of Farrari. That thing is a ugly lump.. And why does it get a Q4 but we can't get the 2.0 and e-axle to have a Tonale Q4 Quad?
