Jeep® Expands Its Wrangler Offerings “Down Under”:

Sport S & Night Eagle Models Join The Lineup...

As one of the most recognized brands in the world, the Jeep® brand continues to push forward with expanding its presence globally. The iconic American automaker is trying to capitalize on certain marketplaces around the globe where it has struggled to gain market share in the past. One of those markets is the “land down under” (also known as Australia). Jeep is coming off of the highly-anticipated launch of its all-new midsized Jeep Gladiator pickup and now is looking to double the offerings of its most popular known model – the Jeep Wrangler.

The current Wrangler lineup in Australia is only made up of two models, the Overland (based on the Sahara) and Rubicon. While the Overland is offered in both two-door and four-door (Unlimited) configurations, the Rubicon is only offered as a four-door model. So Jeep is reworking its lineup to add two new trim levels, the first being the return of the budget-friendly Sport S trim.

The Sport S comes into the 2021 model lineup, only available as a two-door. The Sport S features a starting Australian Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $51,950 before on-road costs. For those paying attention, that is $3,000 more than when the Wrangler (JL) Sport S originally launched in the country back in 2019. The additional cost is justified by the addition of standard Forward Collision Warning-Plus, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind-Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross-Path Detection.

The other new model for the 2021 Australian lineup is the Night Eagle (also known as the Sport Altitude in North America). Based on the Sport S, the Night Eagle builds upon the same standard equipment as the Sport S but is only available in the Unlimited configuration. It adds a darkened styling theme to the Wrangler and adds even more options as standard equipment over the Sport S…

The four-door Night Eagle starts at $60,950 plus on-road costs and sits only a few hundred dollars under the two-door Overland model. It too is only available with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and 8-speed automatic transmission.

Both models will join the lineup in January to kick-off the new year. It follows on the heels of the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon limited edition launch, which allowed Australian customers to purchase the Wrangler’s ultimate rock crawling model in either a two-door or four-door model. Only 100 of those models were scheduled to be produced for the market.
