NHRA: Day #2 U.S. Nationals Test Day Notes:

NHRA teams completed their second day of testing at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ron Capps showed up Jack Beckman’s record time from Wednesday. Many of the teams struggled or didn’t run full runs down the track until their last run of the day. Here is some notes of the day’s events…

Ron Capps – NAPA Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car:
The Funny Car “record” also gets nudged early when Ron Capps betters teammate Jack Beckman’s 3.908 from yesterday with a 3.902, 325.77 in his NAPA Dodge. Capps was making a promotional appearance on Wednesday so his car did not run but it certainly doesn’t appear that the team fell behind the rest of the competition.

Tommy Johnson Jr. – Make-A-Wish Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car:
It’s been a strong test so far for the Make-A-Wish team and they added to their collection of quick runs with a 3.920, 324.20.

Matt Hagan – Mopar Dodge Charger SRT HELLCAT Funny Car:
Hagan jumped back in the left lane after struggling in the right lane but still couldn’t make a full pull. He shut off early for a 4.465, 199.70.

Tony Schumacher – U.S. Army / Mopar Top Fuel Dragster:
U.S. Army team switched back to the left lane after running the right lane and “Sarge” got the job done with a 3.83 at over 325-mph. His car has been solid throughout the two-day test.

Jack Beckman – Infinite Hero Foundation Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car:
On his final round of the week, Beckman smoked the tires early. After leading yesterday’s practice, Beckman struggled Thursday. Again, this is not the same car that the Infinite Hero team tested on Wednesday. It’s their back-up and it is not expected to run at Indy.

Leah Pritchett – Dodge//SRT Mopar Top Fuel Dragster & Dodge//SRT Challenger Drag Pak:

The first car down the track on Wednesday was Leah Pritchett in her Dodge Challenger Drag Pak Factory Showdown car and the numbers were impressive with an 8.09 at just 155.25 mph. Pritchett is one of nearly 30 drivers that are expected to compete in the SAM Tech NHRA Factory Stock Showdown next week.

Pritchett was plenty busy shuffling back-and-forth between her Top Fuel car and her Factory Showdown ride. In her Mopar dragster, Pritchett made her quickest pass of the test with a 3.893, 264.39 on Wednesday.
