Five Jeep® Models Take Top Honors At OFF ROAD Reader’s Choice Awards!

Renegade Named "Best Compact SUV" For Seventh Consecutive Year...

Today the Jeep® brand officially celebrates its 80th anniversary, with that being said the American automaker has taken home top honors at “OFF ROAD” Magazine’s annual Reader’s Choice Awards. Readers of the German SUV and 4×4 off-road specialist publication voted for their favorite 4×4 vehicles and SUVs for 2021, from a selection of 251 models competing across 13 categories. Five different Jeep models took seven top honors at the awards.

2021 Jeep® Renegade Trailhawk 4xe. (Jeep).

The Jeep Renegade was named “Best Compact SUV” in the highly coveted “D” category, for the seventh consecutive year in a row. The Renegade was the first choice of the OFF ROAD readers, earning 12.7% of the vote. This was an impressive achievement as the Renegade was the brand’s first-ever vehicle to enter the competitive small SUV segment, and has been a winner in this category since its market introduction seven years ago. Votes were highlighted by the Renegade’s authentic Jeep design language and capability of the Renegade 4xe plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system.

2021 Jeep® Compass Trailhawk 4xe. (Jeep).

The Jeep Compass took third place in the same category with 9.5% of the vote, making the Jeep brand a clear favorite in the hot-selling compact class according to OFF ROAD readers.

2021 Jeep® Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 4xe. (Jeep).

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe won the “Alternative Drives” category, a particularly important recognition that proves that OFF ROAD readers are looking forward to the future of electrics off-road. The Wrangler Unlimited 4xe PHEV took 12.5% of the vote, well ahead of the second-placed vehicle. The Wrangler also scored a second-place finish in the “Off-Roader A” category with 27.6% of the vote, losing to the Suzuki Jimny.

2021 Jeep® Grand Cherokee (WK2) Trailhawk. (Jeep).

The Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK2) was named the best-imported luxury off-roader and was second overall in the “Luxury Off-Roader B” category. The all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee L (WL75), also earned recognition this year, before its official European market debut as OFF ROAD readers placed it in second place in the “Newcomer” category.

2021 Jeep® Gladiator Overland 4×4. (Jeep).

Last but not least, the Jeep Gladiator scored a second-place finish in the “Pickup C” category, scoring only 0.5% less than the winner (Ford Ranger). The popular Toyota Hilux finished third.

The OFF ROAD Awards were started in 1982, giving enthusiastic readers of the specialist 4×4 magazine the chance to vote for their favorite models. Over 39,211 readers took part in the 2021 edition of the OFF ROAD polls. The results will be printed in the September issue of OFF ROAD, which will be available on newsstands in August.

“We want to thank OFF ROAD readers for their votes and amazing support,” said Christian Meunier, Jeep Brand Chief Executive Officer. “The fact that these enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable readers celebrate the capability, open-air freedom and fun of Jeep vehicles while honoring our exclusive use of electrification to enhance those core attributes, showcases that our 4xe electric technology is the natural evolution of nearly 80 years of Jeep leadership in capability and 4×4 innovation.”
