AUCTION: 579-Mile 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 First Edition

Barely Broken In First Take Of The Current Muscle Icon Is Up For Auction...

As the current generation of Dodge Challenger comes to the end of its lifecycle, we have see a few collectors willing to pair with their low-mileage 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 First Edition models. This is one of those examples currently up for auction on the popular automotive auction site, BringATrailer.com.

This HEMI Orange-painted 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 made its debut mid-year with a production run of 6,400 units for the U.S. market (500 for the Canadian market) and would ultimately lead to a performance renaissance for the Dodge brand.

Each of the First Edition models, came well-equipped. Each car came with 20-inch x 9-inch aluminum SRT design wheels wrapped in 245/45ZR20 all-season rubber, AM/FM 6-disc CD/DVD/MP3/Sirius Satellite Radio head unit with a 13-speaker KICKER SRT audio system, and Dark Slate Grey colored leather bucket seats with HEMI Orange seatback accents.

The First Edition came in three different colors: Bright Silver, Brilliant Black, and of course, HEMI Orange).

What sets this car (No. 5,268) apart from most, is its low mileage on the odometer today. Only 579 miles have been driven on the car since it was purchased new from Larry H. Miller Dodge of Peoria, Arizona.

With the First Edition models, only three options were made available at the time. The optional MyGIG multimedia infotainment system with navigation ($890), 245/45ZR20 front, 255/45ZR20 rear performance tires ($50), and a power sunroof ($950). The only option is car didn’t have added to it was the power sunroof and had a sticker price of $41,095.

Under the hood lies the 6.1-liter (370 cubic-inch) HEMI SRT V8, rated at 425 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque. As the top-dog motor in the Challenger lineup until 2011, the 6.1-liter HEMI featured aluminum alloy cylinder heads with hemispherical combustion chambers, sequential multi-port electronic fuel injection, and a dual exhaust system with a crossover pipe.
