Maserati Teases Grecale On What Would Have Been It’s Global Premiere!

D-SUV Will Make Debut In Spring Of 2022...

Yesterday would have been the Maserati brand’s global premiere of its all-new Grecale D-SUV. However, due to the ongoing semiconductor shortage that the automotive industry is facing, the event was postponed until the Spring of 2022. But that didn’t stop the premium Italian marque from having a little fun and highlighting its upcoming vehicle.

Instead, Maserati took 80 of its Grecale prototypes and outlined the shape of the Maserati logo – the “trident” in a record-breaking shot. According to Maserati, the outline of the trident was over 328 feet (or 100 meters long). Currently, Stellantis’ Maserati brand has over 250 development models active across the United States, Italy, China, Finland, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Based on the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, the Grecale will be the second SUV offered by the Italian marque. It will be the brand’s first D-segment SUV and will slot in just below the Levante E-segment SUV, which made its debut back in 2016. Grecale will feature a trio of powertrains, consisting of internal combustion engines (ICEs), mild-hybrid electric (mHEV), and eventually battery-electric (BEV) options.

Over the past several months, we have seen various Grecale prototypes out testing on public roads in Italy. Those vehicles and a bizarre post on an online auction site featuring various parts for the Grecale have given us a good picture of what the all-new SUV will look like once it hits dealers.

The Maserati Grecale will again be unveiled in Spring 2022, in Milan, Italy, with a global event.
