Supercharged HEMI 1968 Dodge Dart Is Ready To Rock Mecum Indy

961 Horsepower Street-and-Strip Beast Hits the Auction Block May 17

If you’re into old-school muscle with a modern twist, you’ll want to keep your eyes on Mecum Indy 2025 this May. Crossing the auction block on Saturday, May 17, is one of the wildest Dodge Darts ever built—a supercharged 1968 hardtop that packs nearly 1,000 horsepower and the kind of craftsmanship usually reserved for SEMA or magazine covers.

The build started with an acid-dipped 1968 Dart body, the kind you’d typically find in Super Stock drag racing. From there, renowned builder Mike Roth and his team at MR2 Performance in Indianapolis spent the next eight years transforming it into a full-on street and strip monster.

Instead of the old-school 426 HEMI under the hood, this beast is powered by a 7.0-liter (426 cubic-inch) Gen3 HEMI® V8 built by Bischoff Engine Service—one of the best in the business, known for their work with Drag Pak cars and HELLEPHANT crate engines. Add in a Whipple Gen3 supercharger and a Holley ECU, and you’ve got a setup pumping out a jaw-dropping 961 horsepower.

Power flows through an aluminum drum A727 TorqueFlite automatic with a reverse manual valve body built by A&A Transmissions, hooked to an ATI 4500 stall converter. Out back, a Strange steel driveshaft spins a Moser Engineering 9-inch rear end packed with 3.00 Pro Gears and 35-spline axles. Suspension upgrades include QA1 front shocks, Santuff adjustable rears, a 4-link rear setup, and Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners to keep this Dart planted and under control.

While the drivetrain means business, the exterior leans more toward clean than crazy. The car is finished in a custom two-tone paint job—Tarnished Copper Penny over Galaxy Gray—mixed by House of Kolor, with Silver Leaf airbrushed emblems by Boitnott’s Customs replacing the stock badges. The bumpers are tucked, the firewall is smoothed, and even the glass is smoked thanks to Vintage Glass.

Step inside and it’s just as custom. There’s new black Allante leather upholstery, a billet aluminum dash machined by Ed VanNess, and modern touches like pushbutton start, AutoMeter gauges, Vintage Air, and a full sound system. A custom steering wheel on a tilt column ties it all together.

Featured in Mopar Action and Mopar Collectors Guide, and shown at events like the Cavalcade of Customs, and World of Wheels, this car isn’t just loud—it’s legit. Rolling on American Racing wheels with Hoosier tires, this Dart is built to be driven and shown.

Whether you’re a collector, racer, or just someone who loves high-horsepower Mopar muscle, this 1968 Dodge Dart is a once-in-a-generation build with a no-expense-spared pedigree. It’s the kind of car that turns heads and melts tires—and come May 17 at Mecum Indy 2025, it could be yours.
