One of the most iconic muscle cars of the golden era, a Sublime Green 1970 Dodge Charger R/T powered by the legendary 7.2-liter (440 cubic-inch) SIX PACK V8, is coming to Mecum Indy 2025 on Saturday, May 17th.

This car marks the final year of the second-generation Charger design, known for its aggressive lines, hidden headlamps, and wraparound front bumper. The 1970 model year brought a few unique changes, including R/T-only door scoops and the debut of several High-Impact paint options—none more famous than Sublime (FJ5). Finished with a black vinyl top, black performance hood treatment, and a matching rear stripe package, this R/T is every bit a showstopper.
Under the hood sits the fire-breathing 440 cubic-inch SIX PACK V8—named for its trio of two-barrel Holley carburetors mounted atop an aluminum intake. Rated at 390 horsepower, it’s backed by a heavy-duty A727 TorqueFlite automatic and 3.91-geared 8¾-inch rear with Sure Grip. From the factory, SIX PACK cars got the HEMI suspension package, meaning beefier torsion bars, heavy-duty shocks, and better handling all around. Power steering and power brakes make it surprisingly manageable on the road, despite the muscle.

The interior is a time capsule of 1970s Mopar muscle. This car has a clean black bucket seat cabin with woodgrain trim, a full-length console with a ball-knob shifter, and the Rallye gauge cluster with the famous Tic-Toc-Tach and 150-mph speedo. A thumbwheel-style AM/FM radio sits in the dash, while a three-spoke sport steering wheel keeps things classic.
Out back, polished exhaust tips peek out from under the rear valance and a chrome flip-top gas cap remind you this Charger means business. It’s all topped off with a set of 15-inch Rallye wheels with trim rings and dark argent centers.

When the hammer drops at Mecum Indy later this month, Mecum Auctions expects this stunning Sublime SIX PACK Charger R/T to fetch between $125,000 and $150,000—and we wouldn’t be surprised if it goes higher. As the muscle car market continues to appreciate top-tier, real-deal high-performance Mopars, this one checks all the right boxes.
This is it if you want the pinnacle of Dodge performance and style before everything changed in 1971.
