CAUGHT: Upcoming Ram 3500 Heavy Duty Payload Testing:

More Capability Testing On The Heavy Duty Ram...

Our friends at Real Fast Fotography, have done it again. On their journeys around Metro Detroit that happened to run into yet another upcoming Ram 3500 Chassis Cab doing some unique testing. This time around the new Ram is doing payload testing.

It appears that this model is a entry-level Tradesman model, judging by its halogen headlights and it’s grille treatment lightly peaking through the camouflage. This is the second new Heavy Duty Ram we have featured testing its capabilities the past few weeks.

On the current 2018 Ram 3500 Chassis Cab Crew Cab Tradesman 4×4 with the 172.4-inch wheelbase, when properly equipped has a payload capacity of 6,600lbs. While the 4×2 models get an incredible rating of 7,350lbs.

It looks like this Cummins-powered model had no problem hauling all the weight.

While we expect a lot of the new truck to be very similar to the current truck’s underpinnings, we have no doubt the Ram engineers have a few tricks up their sleeves to boost payload capacity.

With more prototypes out on the streets of Metro Detroit than ever before and a continuation of the 2018 model year trucks, we expect Ram to announce these new trucks as the new 2019 model year trucks at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in January.
