Stellantis Resumes Hornet and Tonale Manufacturing
Pomigliano Plant Restarts Production After Supply Chain Resolution...
The Stellantis Pomigliano d’Arco Assembly Plant, located in Campania, Italy, has resumed full production of the Dodge Hornet and Alfa Romeo Tonale after overcoming recent supply chain disruptions. The halt was caused by issues with a key supplier, Trasnova, but an agreement between Stellantis and the supplier has brought operations back to normal.
The agreement was finalized during a meeting at the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy, attended by representatives from Stellantis, trade unions, and local authorities. Key outcomes included the revocation of planned layoffs for 249 Trasnova employees and a 12-month extension of the supply contract.
The restart is a relief for both the workforce and the local economy, as the plant is a vital production hub for Stellantis. Fiat Panda production lines were the first to resume operations, followed by the assembly of the Alfa Romeo Tonale and Dodge Hornet.
Suppliers have begun delivering materials, restoring the flow of goods essential for automotive manufacturing. This development ensures timely production schedules and supports Stellantis’ ability to meet global demand for these models.
The Pomigliano plant has long been a cornerstone of Stellantis’ European manufacturing network. While the Fiat Panda is set to remain in production there until 2029, the Dodge Hornet and Alfa Romeo Tonale are expected to continue contributing significantly to the group’s lineup. Future plans may even include the addition of new models to the plant’s production portfolio.
