Stellantis Recalls Jeep® Renegade Models Over Reverse Light Issue

Potential Safety Noncompliance Prompts Recall Action...

Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 2,135 units of its 2021 to 2023 Jeep® Renegade vehicles due to the possible installation of an incorrect bumper reverse light assembly. This issue causes the vehicles to fail to meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

The incorrect reverse lights may have reduced visibility, failing to alert pedestrians and other drivers that the vehicle is reversing, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

2021 Jeep® Renegade 80th Anniversary Edition. (Jeep).

The suspect period began on September 16, 2021, when the first vehicle was built with the incorrect bumper backup lamp assembly, and ended on December 13, 2023, when vehicles were no longer built with the incorrect bumper backup lamp assembly. Vehicle production records were used to determine the suspect period.

Similar vehicles not included in this recall either do not have backup lamps in the bumper or were built before or after the suspect period.
