Stellantis has published its official sales figures for the month of October for the South American market and it appears that the automaker continues to lead not only in Brazil and Argentina but South America as a whole. The numbers released show that 62,000 vehicles were sold under the Stellantis banner in South America during the month of October, with around 686,000 vehicles sold so far in 2021.
In Brazil, there were 47,557 Stellantis vehicles registered during last month with a total of around 533,000 units being sold since January. That means overall, Stellantis controls about 32.8% of the market share in Brazil.
For the Argentine market, Stellantis sold about 8,900 vehicles during the month of October. There has been a total of 91,453 units sold so far this year, which means Stellantis has 29.2% of the market share in that country.
In the Brazilian market, Stellantis has 6 vehicles among the top-7 best-sellers in the country for the year. FIAT controls that top-2 positions with the Fiat Strada subcompact pickup and Fiat Argo subcompact hatchback. The Strada has sold 91,500 units, with the Argo selling 73,800 units thus far in 2021.

FIAT –
The FIAT brand continues to be the best-selling brand in Brazil for the tenth consecutive month.
With three models among the top-10 best-sellers in the country (Argo, Strada, and Toro), the FIAT brand ended October with 19.5% of the national car and light commerical marketshare (or 29,395 vehicles registered). The Argo sold 8,381 units during the month, which is equal to 5.6% market share in the competitive B-Segment.
The commerical performance of the FIAT brand continued with a 22.4% market share this year in Brazil with 365,000 units sold. The FIAT brand has dominated the commercial market so much so that it is about 109,000 units ahead of the second place brand. FIAT also grew the most in the country among competitors with 6.3% points compared to the same period in 2020.
The new Strada continues to be the most popular vehicle in Brazil in 2021, with 91,515 units and 5.6% market share.
Jeep® –
Again, in October, the Jeep® brand increased its percentage share of the total market, reaching 8.8% of the industry sales for the first time. The American adventure brand sold 13,231 units in October. Among SUVs, the brand was a leader once again, with 23% of the market share during the month.
Another highlight was the unprecedented position of the subcompact Renegade, which was second place in the general ranking of cars and light commercial vehicles. The compact Jeep Compass occupied the fourth position.
October also marked the arrival of the all-new three-row 2022 Jeep Commander D-SUV to the Brazilian dealer body. The model has been on pre-sale since its debut on August 26th. The most sophisticated model produced by Jeep in Brazil has already reached third place in the D-SUV market with a 8.8% share in the market.
Peugeot –
The Peugeot brand registered a growth of 147% in sales from January to October this year, when compared to the same period in 2020. With 23,000 units sold, the automaker registered 75.8% more cars than all of last year.
In October, Peugeot reached a 2% market share, a performance it had not achieved since August of 2012. It was the best result in more than 9 years. The brand is also growing in relation to the pre-pandemic period. There were 30.7% more vehicles registered compared to 2019. The brand’s sales were boosted by the launch of the new 208, with 12,878 units sold from January to October.
Citroën –
For October, Citroën registered a sales growth of 78% compared to October 2020. In accumulated sales until the month of October, the brand registered 17,510 vehicles, which represents a growth of 57% compared to the same period last year.
The highlight for the brand was the 2021 Citroën C4 Cactus SUV, which sold 14,372 units so far this year. That was a growth of 78% compared to the same period last year.
Ram –
The Ram Truck has become the fastest growing “premium” brand in Brazil. Sales for the Ram Truck brand grew 169% from January to October compared to the same period last year. That is with both the 2021 Ram 1500 Rebel and 2021 Ram 2500 Laramie as the only two models sold in the country.
According to Ram Trucks Brazil, there were 2,685 of its vehicles registered since the beginning of the year.
Ram will also be adding a third model to the lineup in Brazil, with the 2022 Ram 3500 Limited Longhorn.
