Stellantis’ DS Automobiles Brand Teases New Flagship Crossover
With 750 KM of Electric Range, Same Underpinnings As Next-Gen Jeep® Compass...
DS Automobiles, the French luxury brand under Stellantis, has begun teasing an all-new electric crossover coupe. This upcoming model is set to deliver an impressive range of 750 kilometers (466 miles) on a single charge, courtesy of the advanced STLA Medium platform. However, the reveal has been shrouded in mystery, with a cryptic press release that redacts the vehicle’s name.
While DS Automobiles has yet to officially confirm the name, industry speculation suggests the model could be called the DS 8, fitting between the DS 7 luxury crossover and the flagship DS 9 sedan. The new vehicle will feature a sleek fastback body style, combining SUV practicality with coupe-like elegance.
The teaser photos reveal a striking design influenced by the brand’s Formula E racing livery. The gold-and-black camouflage wrap accentuates the vehicle’s bold styling, with aerodynamic features such as a sloping roofline, active front intakes, and flying buttresses contributing to a remarkable drag coefficient of 0.24 cd.
The front end showcases DS PixelVision LED headlights, paired with vertical daytime running lights (DRLs) for a futuristic look. Sharp, boomerang-shaped taillights complete the rear design, while subtle body cladding hints at the car’s crossover versatility. A high-riding stance suggests that the model will offer both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations, catering to a range of driving preferences.
Inside, DS Automobiles is expected to deliver its signature blend of luxury and technology. While details remain scarce, the model is likely to include premium materials, avant-garde styling, and advanced digital displays, aligning with the brand’s upscale reputation.
Built on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, this electric crossover coupe will share its underpinnings with other upcoming models, including the next-generation Jeep® Compass (J4U) slated for 2026. The platform’s efficient design is key to the impressive WLTP-rated range of 750 km (466 miles), placing the DS EV ahead of many competitors, including Tesla’s Model Y Long Range, which offers up to 600 km (372 miles).
With its emphasis on aerodynamics, innovative styling, and high-end features, DS Automobiles positions this new EV as a competitor to premium brands like Mercedes-Benz. Pricing details remain undisclosed, but it’s clear that DS aims to maintain its image as a luxury automaker rather than entering the mainstream EV market.
DS Automobiles has promised a complete unveiling of the model before the end of the year. As anticipation builds, this electric crossover coupe has the potential to become a standout in the rapidly evolving EV landscape.
