SPOTTED: 2026 Ram 1500 Ramcharger Laramie

Unmistakable R-A-M Lighting and Unique Wheels Gave It Away

Earlier this week, my daughter and I were finishing up a late grocery run when we stumbled upon something totally unexpected in the parking lot. Just a few spots down from our car sat what appeared to be a prototype of the upcoming 2026 Ram 1500 Ramcharger Laramie — and once I spotted the new backlit R-A-M grille logo, I knew exactly what it was.

A Closer Look at Exterior Design Cues –

Even from a few feet away, it was clear this wasn’t just another Ram 1500. The first thing that stood out was the illuminated R-A-M badging up front, done in a sharp new font exclusive to Ram’s electrified trucks. It’s more modern and edgy than the traditional font used on gas models, and it’s outlined in light, giving the front end a distinct, high-tech look—especially in low lighting.

Another detail I noticed right away was the set of 20-inch snowflake-style wheels. These aren’t your average Ram wheels either — they had an 8-lug bolt pattern. I had seen teaser images of these wheels before, but this was the first time I saw them in the wild. Just behind the front wheels, there was more new R-A-M branding, this time on the lower part of the front doors.

Around the back, the taillights are redesigned and integrated smoothly into the tailgate—something that reminded me a bit of the Ford F-150 Lightning, but Ram definitely gave it its own twist, as the lights form an image similar to a set of Ram horns. The bumper is also unique to the Ramcharger, adding to the exclusive design touches that set it apart from the regular Ram 1500 lineup.

What Makes the Ramcharger Different? –

Underneath all this is where the real magic happens. The Ramcharger is what’s called a Range-Extending Electric Vehicle (REEV). It uses a 92-kWh battery pack, paired with a 130-kW generator powered by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. This combo allows the truck to offer an insane targeted range of up to 690 miles. It cranks out a combined 663 horsepower and 615 lb.-ft. of torque, and Ram says it’ll hit 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds.

Tech-wise, this truck is loaded. It’s got bi-directional charging, which means it can charge other EVs or power your home if needed. The Ramcharger also has an onboard power panel in the bed offering up to 7.2 kW of power — great for job sites, camping, or tailgating. And with 400-volt DC fast charging up to 175 kW, you can add 5 miles of all-electric range per minute of charging.

Suspension, Tech, and Ride Comfort –

Structurally, it’s built on the STLA Frame platform — a body-on-frame setup made from high-strength steel. It rides on an advanced independent rear suspension and comes with Ram’s four-corner air suspension, which offers five ride heights depending on terrain or need, from low Aero mode to high-riding Off-Road 2.

The charge port is on the driver’s side front fender and lights up with a pulsing R-A-M logo to show charging status. The truck also has an all-new power tailgate and a more aerodynamic front end with a forward-leaning grille that gives it a more aggressive look.

Capability –

Ram isn’t just trying to make an electric truck—it’s building something that blends capability with innovation. The Ramcharger leads its class with 14,000 pounds of towing capacity, 2,625 pounds of payload, and smart features like Hands-Free Highway Assist and Autonomous Parking.

The Ram 1500 Ramcharger production is set to begin in the second half of 2025, and we can expect to see them at dealerships by late 2025.

Very cool!

Are the electric components of this truck, such as the EDMs and the batteries, the same as what is planned for the EV version? Will the EV version have basically the same drivetrain but without the engine and gas tank, or will there be more differences ?

Battery is 92 kWh on Ramcharger and 168 kWh on REV. Same EDMs tho.

These are cool, I’m slightly interested in the Ramcharger but it’s wholly dependent on pricing.

It looks great, should haul some serious but with over 600hp, and it’s the only viable way that EV’s can be fully integrated for end user.

Man, that’s a cool truck
