SPOTTED: 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce Q4 On Public Roads!

We Get Another Brief Look At The Updated Stelvio...

Just over a week ago, we were surprised to see some photos of a 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio pilot model that were leaked from the assembly line at the Stellantis Cassino plant. The low-resolution shot gave us our first sneak peek at the first major exterior update for the Italian brand’s most successful model. In that photo, we were shown a new headlamp styling update that followed in line with the styling direction of the recently launched 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale.

Today, a photo has been making its way across the interwebs showing a 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio with black tape over its headlamps on public roads. The model appears to be a “Veloce” Q4, and one thing besides the headlights caught our eye. It now appears that the black plastic trim is now painted to match the body color going forward. This helps the Stelvio look much larger and more upscale than the current model.

With the brand transitioning its brand into an all-electric lineup by 2027. Both the current Stelvio and Giulia models will receive a mid-cycle-action (MCA) as the models will continue to soldier on until the battery-electric vehicle (BEV) replacements arrive. The next-generation Stelvio will arrive first in late-2025.

Although the new headlamps are just part of the Stelvio MCA, we do know quite a bit about the new lighting units.

Tribolo-inspired “3+3” headlight design with new, full LED evoke the proud look of the Alfa Romeo SZ Zagato or the Proteo concept car. Developed in conjunction with Marelli Automotive Lighting, the three modules make up a unique frontline for the car and simultaneously provide daylight, dynamic turn signals, and a “welcome and goodbye” feature (activated every time the driver turns the car on or off) to ensure the best lighting conditions. These technologies offer greater efficiency, in terms of durability and energy-saving with twice the light intensity of conventional halogen lamps, lower emissions, and improved safety, with less eye strain and better driving comfort.

Amongst other things, we can confirm coming to the Stelvio in the 2023 model year is a new all-digital gauge cluster. The fully-customizable screen has been slowly been integrated into several Stellantis vehicles, across the automaker’s 14 brand lineup.

There will also be a mild-hybrid (mHEV) powertrain update. We expect that it will adopt the same propulsion system as the Ghibli and Levante Hybrid models. Equipped with the proven 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (GME-T4) engine that is found under the hood of many of our favorite Stellantis products, however, for the Maserati Hybrid models, there is a huge boost in power to a whopping 330 horsepower and 332 ft.-lb. (450 Nm) of torque at just 1,500 rpm.

The Giulia Q 6-speed manual will be a classic in a decade.
As for this restyle. It's disappointingly little to hold the model 3 more years.

There's no old LED face. I never liked the Stelvio Xenon DRL look. Giulia is much better.

Quite a lazy restyling exercise. Should have done more.
