SPOTTED: 2019 Ram 5500 Laramie Chassis Cab Cold Weather Testing:
New Heavy Duty Chassis Cab Caught Out In The Cold...
It was only two weeks ago when the Ram Commercial brand was pulling the wraps off the production-spec 2019 Ram 3500/4500/5500 Chassis Cab models in Chicago. Now, our spy photographers have caught the 2019 Ram 5500 Laramie Crew Cab in its 179.4-inch wheelbase form.
In 2018 model year the Laramie was the top-dog of the Heavy Duty Chassis Cab food chain, that is no longer the deal for 2019 with the introduction of the 2019 Ram 5500 Limited Chassis Cab. But that doesn’t stop the Laramie model from featuring a bunch of luxury features. The 2019 Laramie model like its predecessor still only comes in Crew Cab configuration. But add the vastly new interior, the new standard LED headlamps, fog lamps, and a ton of new upgraded technology (like Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and AEB with trailer brakes and the popular 12.1-inch Uconnect touchscreen).
This exact truck is powered by the significantly revised Cummins 6.7-liter inline-six turbo diesel which is optional on the 2019 Ram 5500 Chassis Cab. It is paired with the Aisin AS69RC electronically controlled 6-speed automatic transmission with optional PTO capability. The updated Cummins engine delivers 360 horsepower and the highest available torque in Class 4 and 5 at 800 lb.-ft.
As you can see from the front of this Ram 5500 Laramie Chassis Cab, it features the Cold Weather Group. The Cold Weather Group features Engine Block Heater and Winter Front Grille Cover, which is perfect for the conditions this truck has been testing in (the bitter Michigan winter weather).
Chassis Cab models should be available in dealers by June. While Ram Trucks officially released pricing on the new 2019 Ram 2500/3500 pickup lineup, the Chassis Cab pricing has yet to be announced. Stay tuned to HDRams.com, as we will break that information as soon as it arrives.
