LEAKED: 2022 Jeep® Compass Images Show Up On The Interwebs:

We Get A Sneak Peek At The Updated Compass...

Since the beginning of the year, we have talked a lot about the upcoming revision to the 2022 Jeep® Compass. Two weeks ago, we learned that the updated 2022 model would be making its world debut this month at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition in Guangzhou, China. The event is scheduled to take place from November 22nd to December 1st. Since the press conference schedule has not been posted, we still don’t have an exact date of the unveiling yet.

Although the 2022 Jeep Compass will be a revision of the current model, we can expect a bit more than just a quick styling update. Recent spy photos have shown us that the updated Compass will in fact get heavy updates both inside and outside. Now, why the most recent spy photos on the interwebs have shown us that the 2022 model will feature a front end styling treatment more in line with the current Jeep Cherokee (KL) model, the heavy vinyl camouflage wrap has done a good job hiding the finer details.

Thanks to a leak from a Chinese-based website, we are getting our first look at the Compass’ updated styling. Starting with all-new LED lighting, headlamps, daytime running lights (DRL), and fog lamps are now standard across the entire lineup. While the seven slot grille remains around the same size, it appears that it will get different alterations depending on the model. The new front fascia also features a contrast black insert, that connects the fog lamps from either end of the vehicle.

The off-road-ready Trailhawk model features even more black cladding than before. A new black hood graphic featuring an offset red stripe, Gloss Black grille surround, and of course there is Jeep’s signature red tow hooks for its “Trail Rated” models. It appears that the Gloss Black two-tone roof exterior scheme will be discontinued in a favor of the body-colored look. The Trailhawk also looks to get a new set of aluminum wheels with a similar design of the Renegade Trailhawk.

Looking at the back of the vehicle, it doesn’t appear to be many design changes. We wouldn’t be surprised if there is some material changes to help decrease weight. It appears that this year’s optional LED tail lamps will become standard going into the 2022 model year.

Inside, is where the Compass will get most of its changes. Earlier spy photos, show that a new series of Uconnect 5 infotainment touchscreens will be available. Sources close to MoparInsiders.com have stated that a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen set vertically will be available. There will also be a number of technology updates to the Compass as well. A full-digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, 360-degree surround-view camera, and the latest  L2 (or Level 2) autonomy, which allows the vehicle to feature advancements like highway assist, traffic jam assists, traffic sign recognition, lane keep assist, active blind-spot assist, and driver attention alert, will also be offered.

Under the hood, it is expected that the Compass will adapt the Renegade’s 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with Engine Start/Stop (ESS). The 1.3-liter delivers 177 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque and while it is not a huge boost in power from the current 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder, the 1.3-liter has a lot more pep than the outgoing powertrain. You can still expect the a 9-speed automatic transmission to be the only available powertrain in the North American market.

For those who are waiting on the electrified Compass 4xe models to come to North America, our sources have stated that it won’t be coming to the market until sometime in 2023.

Stay tuned as we will dig deeper into the updated 2022 Jeep Compass, once the details become more available. You can expect the updated Compass to start production in China and India marketplaces first in the fourth quarter of 2022. The North American version should be hitting dealers mid-year 2021.
