SpeedKore Builds A Carbon Fiber Demon-Powered 1970 Dodge Charger:
Tantrum Meets Evolution...
Many weeks ago, we told you about how SpeedKore Performance built another carbon fiber 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon that ditched the supercharger for a twin-turbo setup. It also holds the record of the world’s fastest Dodge Challenger SRT Demon with a blazing fast pass of 8.77-seconds in the quarter-mile, with NHRA Top Fuel driver Leah Pritchett behind the wheel.
Even though they do some projects with other manufacturers, they do a lot of Mopar projects. So, we are huge fans of the Wisconsin-based company, which builds some of the baddest Mopars on the planet.
Now SpeedKore Performance is introducing us to another Demon-powered vehicle. Meet the 1970 Dodge Charger “Evolution”. If you think this is just another restored B-Body Dodge Charger with a modern powertrain thrown into the mix, think again.
Looking like the SpeedKore Performance Dodge Charger “Tantrum” which appeared at the 2015 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show, which not only had a carbon fiber body but was powered by a 9.0-liter Mercury Racing twin-turbo Marine V8 making 1,650 horsepower. The “Evolution” builds on the “Tantrum” legacy, by building something much more streetable.
SpeedKore Performance’s goal was to make the “Evolution” even lighter than the “Tantrum”.
The SpeedKore Performance team created a package that replaces the Mercury Marine engine with a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 from the Challenger SRT Demon with some upgrades. Thrown on a smaller supercharger pulley, bigger fuel injectors, upgraded oil cooler, upgraded dry sump system, a one-of-a-kind cold air intake system and a racing radiator and you got yourself a 996 horsepower monster under the hood. The modified Demon engine released its satanic growl through stainless steel headers and a custom SLP exhaust system.
The amazing guys over at Hoonigan, got a chance a few weeks back to check out both the Evolution and the Tantrum back to back. You can take a look for yourself in the video below. There is no doubt that SpeedKore builds some of the most detailed and amazing builds out there.
