We have seen pretty remarkable Dodge Challenger builds over the years. But there is one particular one that has caught our eye. This Dodge Challenger SRT-8 not only has a 6.1-liter HEMI V8 with a 426 cubic-inch stroker kit but an amazing story behind the car. Owner Darla Kimak (also known as the “HEMI Kid”), gave a close up look at her amazing 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 426 build, to our own R/T Life in one of his most recent videos.
Four years ago, on her way home from Roadkill Nights, Darla’s mother was tragically killed in a car crash. Taking the engine and transmission from the wrecked car and transplanting it into another Challenger, she has built a mid-10 second car capable of dominating most Charger and Challenger SRT HELLCATs with ease. The 2008 Dodge Challenger is purpose-built for the drag strip and is stripped out, tipping the scales at only 3,675 lbs.
The video goes more in-depth with Darla’s build and it a great family story in which she continues to keeps the family’s spirit alive.
