MotorTrend’s Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge is back for its ninth year, and this time, it’s shifting gears with a new location and exciting changes. Scheduled for Saturday, August 10, 2024, the event returns to M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan, offering a unique and immersive experience for car enthusiasts.
A New Racing Experience Inside M1 Concourse –
For the first time since 2015, when the original Roadkill Nights was held in the parking lot of the old Pontiac Silverdome, Roadkill Nights will move off Woodward Avenue and into the heart of the M1 Concourse. This change allows fans to get even closer to the high-octane action with enhanced viewing areas and walkable pit zones, giving spectators an up-close look at the cars and drivers.
The move inside M1 Concourse brings several benefits for attendees, including a fan-friendly setup that places them right next to the drag racing action. The event will feature a mix of classic and modern muscle cars, thrilling races, and interactive displays, making it a must-see for any automotive enthusiast.
A Weekend Full of Events –
Roadkill Nights isn’t just about racing—it’s a full weekend of automotive excitement. The festivities kick off on Friday, August 9, with the Sick Powerfest, an official pre-party event also held at M1 Concourse. The Sick Powerfest will feature the World Burnout Championship, with a $25,000 prize on the line, and the Sick Spit Show and Shine, where fans can check out some of the world’s fastest street-legal cars up close.
Friday will also host the reveal of competitors for the Direct Connection Grudge Race, a highlight of Roadkill Nights. These racers, powered by the new HurriCrate engine, will debut their builds during the press conference, followed by shakedown runs at the pre-party.
The Main Event: Roadkill Nights on August 10 –
Saturday, August 10, is the main event, packed with drag racing, displays, and special activities. The day will feature adrenaline-fueled drag races in both Big Tire and Small Tire classes, along with thrilling Dodge Drift Rides and the new Dodge Hornet Rally Rides. These Rally Rides will give fans the chance to ride shotgun on a specially built dirt-and-pavement course, adding a new dimension of excitement to the event.
One of the key attractions this year is the worldwide public debut of the all-new, all-electric 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona First Editions, which includes the Charger Daytona R/T and the Charger Daytona Scat Pack. These vehicles are the first Dodge electric vehicles (EVs) to hit the market and will be on display for attendees to admire throughout the day.
The Direct Connection Grudge Race, now in its fourth year, will see automotive builders and influencers go head-to-head in HurriCrate-powered drag cars. This race has become a fan favorite, showcasing the latest in Dodge’s factory-backed performance parts.
Celebrity Appearances and More –
Roadkill Nights will also feature appearances by automotive celebrities and racing legends. Fans can expect to see Roadkill’s David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan, professional wrestler Bill Goldberg, and NHRA stars Matt Hagan, Leah Pruett, and Ida Zetterström. Hagan and Zetterström will put on exhibition runs in their 11,000-plus-horsepower drag cars, adding to the excitement of the day.
The event will also include a classic and modern muscle car cruise-in, Dodge Demon drag race simulators, vendor booths, food trucks, and musical entertainment throughout the day. Attendees can also support the Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge United Way auction, with proceeds going to benefit the United Way for Southeastern Michigan.
