Ringbrothers Unveils “INFECTED” 1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda
807 Horsepower Custom 'Cuda Looks to Wow at SEMA 2024...
Ringbrothers, the renowned custom car builder from Spring Green, Wisconsin, has once again pushed the boundaries of automotive craftsmanship with their latest project: a 1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda named “INFECTED.” Debuting at the 2024 Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA) Show, this build showcases a flawless blend of classic Mopar styling and cutting-edge performance.
A Modern Twist on a Mopar Icon –
INFECTED pays homage to the wild and vibrant designs of Mopar muscle cars from the 1970s. Ringbrothers dedicated a staggering 5,600 hours to perfect every aspect of this build. The wheelbase has been extended by moving the front wheels forward 1.5 inches, enhancing its stance. Custom touches like shortened front fenders and a reimagined front valance, widened for optimal airflow, give the ‘Cuda a fresh yet unmistakable presence. Notably, the front bumper guards and grille surround have been milled from a single block of billet aluminum, while both front and rear bumpers have been tucked and narrowed to emphasize the car’s muscular lines.
“The ‘Cuda has always been one of those cars we’ve been itching to build,” said Ringbrothers co-owner Jim Ring. “The lines and proportions are the quintessential muscle car, making it the perfect canvas to highlight our in-house capabilities.”
Vibrant Colors and Striking Details –
The paintwork, developed with BASF, offers a unique take on Mopar’s classic High-Impact colors. Dubbed “Pink Eye,” this bold hue celebrates the playful spirit of Mopar’s heyday while acknowledging the HELLCrate Redeye engine that powers the car. The body features extensive use of carbon fiber, including a one-off hood, adding both strength and lightweight performance.
Power and Performance –
Under the hood, Mopar’s 807-horsepower supercharged HELLCrate Redeye HEMI® V8 engine delivers 717 lb.-ft. of torque. This powerhouse is paired with a Bowler TREMEC TR-6060 6-speed manual transaxle, transmitting power to the rear wheels through a custom torque tube and Wavetrac differential. The chassis, a Roadster Shop FAST TRACK setup, is engineered for maximum dynamic performance, with Fox RS SV coilovers and Baer Brakes Extreme XTR six-piston front calipers and four-piston rears providing precise handling and stopping power. Custom HRE Wheels Muscle Series 105 three-piece wheels, wrapped in sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, ensure grip and stability.
A Custom Interior to Match –
The interior of INFECTED mirrors the craftsmanship of the exterior. Upholstery Unlimited created a bespoke white leather cabin with modern amenities, including custom Dakota Digital gauges, a Vintage Air Gen IV climate control system, and a high-end sound system equipped with Apple CarPlay. Notable features include a carbon-fiber “pistol grip” shifter and a Ringbrothers Murph steering wheel, adding a touch of modern elegance to the classic muscle car vibe.
Mike Ring, co-owner of Ringbrothers, summed up the project: “INFECTED was shaped by the theatrics and joyful nature of classic Mopars, with the added benefit of modern performance. This build showcases how cutting-edge techniques can elevate American muscle to new heights.”
Ringbrothers continues to offer a variety of parts for Plymouth ‘Cudas and Chrysler E-body cars, from hinge kits to custom steering wheels. More information is available on their website at www.ringbrothers.com.
