Jeep® Mexico Introduces “Wrangler Rubicon Tuscadero Sky Freedom Edition”!

Only 100 Units Are Being Produced...

Back in August, the Jeep® brand introduced the limited edition Tuscadero (PHP) exterior color. The Tuscadero exterior color was the most popular special edition color for the 2021 model year. Jeep then reintroduced the high-impact color for a brief time for the 2022 models, before closing orders in December.

With that being said, Jeep Mexico has now announced that it will bring a new special edition vehicle featuring the high-impact pink color to the Mexican market. Jeep will send 100 units of what the American adventure brand calls the “2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Tuscadero Sky Freedom Edition”. Now, that’s a mouthful!

Based on the 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, the Rubicon Tuscadero Sky Freedom Edition eatures unmatched off-road capabilities with 4×4 Command-Trac® and Rock-Trac® 4×4 systems, the latest generation of Dana axles, electronic locking differentials Tru-Lock front and rear, off-road tires, Rock Rails steel crash bars, and steel skid plates, and a unique hood with functional Power Dome vents.

It maintains the legendary seven-slot grille with a more modern look. The exterior grilles intersect with the headlights, paying homage to the Jeep CJ. LED headlights and fog lights provide crisp white light and add to the Wrangler’s distinctive look. It features familiar daytime running lights that form a halo around the outer perimeter of the headlights, and front turn signals located on the front of the fenders.

The Sky Freedom part of the name comes from the standard Sky One-Touch® Power Top. It allows occupants to open or close the Wrangler’s roof with a push of a button. The power top can be used at speeds up to 60 mph (37 kph).

The Rubicon Tuscadero Sky Freedom Edition’s interior retains its exclusive style, versatility, and comfort. The Jeep heritage-inspired center console features a clean, sculpted design that complements that of the instrument panel. A hand-wrapped instrument panel showcases soft-touch surfaces with bold stitching. Functional elements such as the air conditioning and volume controls, USB ports, and the Stop-Start System (ESS) button were designed for quick recognition and easy reach from the driver or front passenger position. The air vents are outlined by a platinum chrome surround that gives it a premium yet rugged look.

Jeep functionality and versatility are enhanced on the center console with silver metal accents. The center console houses the gear selector, transfer case, and parking brake. The shift lever, grips, and infotainment screen frame employ real screws, underlining the use of genuine construction methods.

The instrument panel has a 7-inch thin-film-transistor (TFT) screen. The 7-inch TFT screen allows the driver to configure the information displayed in more than 100 different ways, including music, tire pressure or a digital speed indicator. Buttons integrated into the steering wheel allow you to control the audio system, voice and speed functions without taking your hands off the wheel at any time.

Rubicon Tuscadero Sky Freedom Edition also incorporates the renowned 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C infotainment system with navigation. Two USB ports in the front and another two within reach of the rear occupants connect to the “media” center. Multiple 12-volt auxiliary power outlets located throughout the Wrangler’s interior.

Rubicon Tuscadero Sky Freedom Edition features exclusive dark brown saddle seats with 6-way manual driver’s seat adjustment, 2-way manual lumbar adjustment, and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat.

Under the hood of the Rubicon Tuscadero Sky Freedom Edition is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine delivering 285 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque with efficient mild-hybrid (mHEV) eTorque technology mated to a new 8-speed automatic transmission.

Features of the mHEV eTorque system include automatic stop/start, electronically assisted steering, extended injection cut-off, gear management, intelligent battery charging, and regenerative braking. Both the engine and the fuel flow can be turned off during stops, descents, or deceleration phases.

Occupant safety and protection have been paramount when developing the new Jeep Wrangler, which is reflected in the more than 75 active and passive safety components available. These include Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Control, ParkView Backup Camera with Dynamic Grid Lines, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Electronic Roll Mitigation, and four front-mounted airbags.

The 100 unit special edition Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Tuscadero Sky Freedom will carry a price of $1,292,900 pesos (or about $60,728 USD).
