Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Brazil Ltda., has issued a recall for 2014 to 2015 Jeep® Grand Cherokee Limited 4×4 with the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 over a potential crankshaft position failure. According to record, 1,685 Grand Cherokee Limited 4×4 models in Brazil are affected by the recall.
A failure in the crankshaft position sensor, which makes it impossible to start the engine and, in extreme cases, allows the unexpected shutdown of the vehicle in motion, compromising the driving conditions and increasing the risk of collision, with potential material, physical or even fatal damage to vehicle occupants or third parties.
Affected owners are being asked to schedule an appointment at their local Jeep dealer, so a technician can reprogram the engine injection center software. The service will be free of charge and will take about an hour to complete. An appointment is required, to help the dealer avoid from crowding and respecting the safety guidelines of the Brazilian Ministry of Health and Decrees during the ongoing pandemic.
Vehicles involved with the recall contain non-sequential VIN numbers (last six digits) from 513499 to 867945.
