RECALL: 4,660 Dodge Hornet & Alfa Romeo Tonale PHEVs
For Predestrian Alert Siren May Be Missing Or Disconnected...
Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 4,660 units of the company’s Dodge Hornet (GG) and Alfa Romeo Tonale (GC) Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs), due to a pedestrian alert siren may be missing or disconnected and fail to alert pedestrians when the vehicle is in reverse.
Some of the above vehicles may have been built with a pedestrian alert siren that is not properly connected and/or missing. Suspect vehicles may fail to meet the minimum sound requirements whenever the vehicle’s gear selector is in the Reverse position. Failure to alert pedestrians when backing up in electric driving mode may result in an improper warning and/or potential injury to pedestrians. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 141, “Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles.”
Failure to alert pedestrians when backing up increases the risk of injury.
