RECALL: 2024–2025 Ram ProMaster BEV Over Torque Management Software

Nearly 800 Vans Recalled Due To EDM Software Flaw Causing Potential Power Loss

Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 790 units of its all-electric 2024–2025 Ram ProMaster BEV (VF)vans due to a software issue in the Electric Drive Module (EDM) that may not effectively manage torque. This malfunction could result in a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), certain 2024–2025 Ram ProMaster BEVs were built with Motor Control Processor (MCP) software that does not properly limit dynamic torque spikes.

The suspect production period began on August 31, 2023, when vehicles were first assembled with the affected software, and ended on July 17, 2025, when Stellantis implemented the corrected version. Engineering release data and vehicle production records were used to identify the affected population. Vehicles not included in this recall were either built after the suspect period or had the correct MCP software flashed before leaving plant control.

Recall Chronology –

  • March 14, 2025: Stellantis Europe S.p.A. opened an investigation following a plant alert for broken differential housings on the EDM units installed in Fiat eDucato vehicles.

  • March–August 2025: Stellantis Europe’s Control Tower, FCA US LLC’s Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (TSRC) organization, and Stellantis Engineering teams met to analyze the issue, review potential failure modes, and determine the suspect population.

  • September 17, 2025: The FCA US TSRC organization launched a formal investigation into certain 2024–2025 Ram ProMaster BEVs that may have been equipped with software that allows unregulated torque spikes, potentially leading to a loss of propulsion (LOP).

  • September 24, 2025: FCA US reported no customer assistance cases, warranty claims, or service records, though two field reports potentially related to the issue had been received, dated between April 9, 2024, and October 31, 2024.

  • FCA US also confirmed no known accidents or injuries associated with this defect.

  • October 2, 2025: The Vehicle Regulations Committee determined that a safety defect existed in certain vehicles, prompting this recall.
