A remarkable 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T restomod is heading to auction at Mecum Glendale on Saturday, March 22. This custom-built masterpiece is the result of a meticulous frame-off restoration completed in 2014 by Kindigit Design, with a cost exceeding $400,000. The car was a standout award winner at a Washington event in 2014 and gained even more fame being featured on the TV show Bitchin’ Rides (Season 1, Episode 6).

Under the hood, this Challenger boasts a supercharged 9.4-liter (572 cubic-inch) HEMI® V8, built by the renowned Lindsay Strasburg of Strasburg Machine, producing an impressive 900 horsepower. The engine is equipped with an F1R Procharger and a custom air box atop the intake manifold, contributing to its performance. A long-tube header system channels exhaust gases through a 3-inch titanium HPC-coated exhaust with Dynomax mufflers and polished tips, ensuring an aggressive sound.
The engine is paired with a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission, coupled with an HD clutch assembly, which transfers power to the Dana 60 rear axle. This is all supported by a custom K-member, adjustable QA1 coilovers, and a Street Lynx 4-link rear suspension. Braking duties are handled by Wilwood disc brakes, with 6-piston calipers up front and 4-piston calipers in the rear, complemented by slotted and drilled rotors for optimal stopping power.

This Challenger’s design is just as impressive as its performance. Finished in a clean white paint job with custom Matte Black graphics designed by Dave Kindig, the car maintains the classic look of the first-generation Challenger while adding modern touches. A sport hood with custom “572 HEMI” emblems, R/T insignia, and flip-open gas cap make it stand out, while the custom one-off 19-inch x 8-inch front and 20-inch x 12-inch rear EVOD wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, ensuring both style and performance.
Inside, the Challenger features a custom leather interior by JS Customs, including a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, pistol grip-style floor shifter, and wood-grain accents. Modern amenities like air conditioning, power windows, and a secret sound system, paired with Dynamat insulation throughout, ensure comfort and quality.

This restomod 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T represents the perfect blend of vintage muscle car heritage and modern performance upgrades, making it a standout offering at Mecum Glendale.
