May was a very special month for Ram. The brand obtained the best result since 2005 when the Ram 2500 began to be officially imported into the country. With 404 units sold during the month of May, which is equivalent to 27.4% of the total vehicles sold during the entirety of 2020. Helping to push the Ram Truck brand in Brazil was the launch of the Ram 1500 Rebel which sold 197 units in its first full month on the market. Surprisingly, the Ram 2500 Laramie outsold the Rebel by only 10 units (207 in total).
“The Ram 1500 Rebel continues to amaze us. After the 100 pre-order units sold out in just 18 hours in December, we’ve continued to receive orders since then and, in this debut month, Brazil’s first muscle truck was already the sixth best-selling vehicle in the premium segment, very close to the Ram 2500 itself, which was in fifth place”, says Breno Kamei, director of Ram for South America.
As a result, Ram secured a 9.8% market share among prestigious brands in May, competing against high-end sedans and SUVs. So far this year, the Ram pickups represent 5.2% of the premium category in Brazil.
It is also worth mentioning the commercial performance of the Ram 2500 Laramie, which continues to rise. Between January and May, the largest pickup truck in the market had 717 units registered, 23.5% more than the result for the same period in 2020.
Another example of the brand’s success is the limited series Ram 2500 Laramie Rodeo, which had its 100 units booked in just 10 hours last week. What made Ram start studying the import of more copies of the pickup, developed exclusively for the Brazilian public.
