Ram Brazil has once again demonstrated its engineering prowess with the compact Rampage, which has recently been honored as the “Best Medium Gasoline Pickup” in the second edition of the Clean Mobility Awards. The accolade, presented by Agência Autoinforme at a ceremony held on Thursday at the Transamérica Expo Center, underscores the Rampage’s impressive performance and efficiency, particularly due to its innovative Hurricane4 engine.
Award-Winning Engine –
The key to the Rampage’s latest accolade is its turbocharged 2.0-liter Hurricane4 inline-four-cylinder gasoline engine. This powertrain, available across all Rampage versions and featured exclusively in the R/T model, produces a notable 272 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Constructed with an aluminum block and heads and equipped with direct injection and double variable valve control, the Hurricane4 engine is engineered for high performance and efficiency.
Part of the Stellantis Global Medium Engine (GME) family, the Hurricane4 engine includes advanced features such as a low inertia twin-scroll turbocharger, an electronic relief valve, and a refrigerated exhaust gas recirculation system. These technologies contribute to the Rampage’s exceptional performance among regional pickup trucks.
Performance Highlights –
In the sportiest R/T version of the Rampage, the truck accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 137 mph (limited). The other versions of the Rampage also offer strong performance, with a 0-60 mph time of 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 130 mph.
Clean Mobility Awards Criteria –
The Clean Mobility Awards aim to promote more efficient and cleaner vehicle options by using public data from the Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program, managed by Inmetro. The 2024 data set considers 35 brands and 975 models/versions across various categories, including electric, plug-in hybrid (PHEV), hybrid, flex, gasoline, and diesel hybrid vehicles.
