AUCTION: 1-Of-1 2006 Dodge Viper ASC McLaren Diamondback Concept!

Carbon-Fiber Body Panels, McLaren-Built V-10, & Only 80 Original Miles...

Originally making its debut at the 2006 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, the 2006 Dodge Viper ASC McLaren Diamondback was a one-off concept built by automotive specialty supplier American Specialty Cars (ASC).

The Diamondback was built as a super-light and super-fast version of the Gen3 Dodge Viper SRT-10 Coupe, a car that ASC helped Chrysler Group bring into production.

But this unique 1-of-1 build featured the use of many lightweight components, such as revised ASC bodywork that included a carbon-fiber hood, roof panel, front splitter, side skirts, and rear fascia. The carbon-fiber parts cut about 85 lbs. of weight from the car.

The Diamondback is finished in Arctic Ice Pearl with McLaren Orange and Viper Blue accent stripes. Additional exterior details include xenon headlights, fog lights, Diamondback badging, a trunk lid-mounted kill switch, and quadruple side-exit exhaust outlets.

It sits on beautiful 19-inch multi-piece wheels wrapped up in Michelin Pilot Sport tires measuring 275/35 front, and 345/30 rear. Hidden behind those wheels, is an ASC-modified lowered suspension and Brembo brakes with Viper-branded calipers.

Under the hood, lies an 8.0-liter Viper V-10 modified by McLaren Performance Technologies. The engine includes a set of trumpeted air-intakes with individual ported throttle bodies which stick out through the Omni-Carbon hood. McLaren said that modifications pushed the performance of the V-10 to 615 horsepower.

Power from the V-10 was sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. To help add a more throaty exhaust note, the Diamondback was fitted with a fabricated stainless-steel exhaust system.

The Diamondback’s cabin features a pair of bucket seats featuring Black leather and microsuede with a set of Willans 4-point racing harnesses. Other amenities include air-conditioning, AM/FM/CD stereo with Alpine sound, and carbon-fiber trim. The odometer shows only 80 original miles on the car!

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Montana, Nebraska, and Arizona. Entries from 2012 show the car was imported to British Columbia, Canada. Manufacturer safety recalls related to the clutch interlock switch and occupant restraint control module are noted in May 2015 and December 2019 entries, respectively.
