Ram Could Show Off The 2025 Ram Heavy Duty In Detroit

Updated Heavy Duty Offering Could Break Cover In The Motor City, Next Month...

The 2025 Detroit Auto Show is fast approaching, and many people are wondering what Stellantis will bring to showcase. Media day kicks off on Friday, January 10th, 2025, and we strongly believe that Ram will unveil the updated 2025 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty trucks, marking their first public debut at the event.

Updated Ram Heavy Duty Lineup –

The 2025 Ram 2500/3500 Heavy Duty lineup builds upon the familiar fourth-generation architecture while introducing significant updates. Buyers will continue to have a choice between Regular Cab, Crew Cab, and Mega Cab configurations. On the exterior, the trucks receive a bold new look with redesigned front styling and refreshed taillights. Lower trims, including the Tradesman and Big Horn (Lone Star), feature standard reflective LED headlights, while higher trims upgrade to projector LED units. Similarly, incandescent taillights come standard on lower trims, with LED taillights equipped on premium models.

Safety and Technology –

Stellantis has taken a major step forward by making Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) standard across all trims in the 2025 lineup. This move highlights the company’s commitment to integrating advanced safety features into heavy-duty trucks, ensuring both convenience and security for drivers. Additionally, the new 14.4-inch Uconnect 5 system is expected to be available on select models.

No Tungsten Model for 2025? –

According to dealer guides, the ultra-premium Tungsten trim from the Ram 1500 will not carry over for the 2025 update. Instead, the Limited trim will serve as the more luxurious offering for 2025. The lineup remains robust, featuring the Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Longhorn, and Limited trims. Each offers a unique combination of features, catering to a diverse range of needs and budgets.

Engine and Powertrain Upgrades –

6.7-liter Cummins Turbodiesel I-6 Engine. (Ram).

The 6.4-liter HEMI® V8 continues as the standard gasoline engine, paired with the reliable 8HP75-LCV 8-speed automatic transmission. Diesel enthusiasts will be pleased to see the return of the 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel I6, now with several noteworthy enhancements.

For 2025, the Cummins engine benefits from a redesigned cylinder head with external injectors and fuel rail lines, improving both efficiency and reliability. Glow plugs replace the traditional intake manifold grid heater, enhancing cold-start performance in colder climates. Other updates include a re-engineered intake manifold for better airflow, top-loading cartridge filters for simplified maintenance, and a redesigned high-pressure fuel pump to address prior reliability concerns.

One of the most significant upgrades for the 2025 Heavy Duty trucks is the adoption of the ZF PowerLine™ 8-speed automatic transmission. This new gearbox replaces the outgoing 68RFE and Aisin AS69RC 6-speed automatics, delivering smoother shifts, improved fuel economy, and enhanced towing capabilities. A Holset™ variable-geometry turbo (VGT) with a 10-blade design further optimizes performance, ensuring better power delivery, especially during demanding tasks.

They don't mind showing it off because we saw that truck 17 years ago. Nothing to hide.

I'm still holding out hope of seeing a new Ram HD lineup before I'm in a nursing home one day. I believe it can happen!

Ram used to have a nice simple design to their grills. Now it looks like they hired the Toyota, Tonka toys castoffs.

Oh Wow I think the truck looked better with the camo covers, especially that goofie grill in the Rebel talk about going from bad to worse.

Remind me again how this is better that the crosshair grills.

Sure better have a much improved drive train of at least 525 HP and 1200 plus torgue.

They need a new design already going to be the same old cabs for 2 decades.

Tradesman looks ok. The red Laramie….kinda on. Not a fan of the quad headlight look. The Rebel is an embarrassment
