R/T Life’s 2015 Dodge Charger R/T 397 Gets The Widebody Treatment:
Updating The Looks Of A Non-Widebody Charger...
Our friend and long-time contributor R/T Life, has been on the quest to find the most bang for the buck performance for his 2015 Dodge Charger R/T’s 5.7-liter HEMI V8. He has had his ups and downs, showing us a lot of bolt-on ideas that many of us 5.7-liter HEMI V8 owners have done over the years. But there comes a point in time when you can only bolt on so much and you have to step things up to the next level.

Back in December of 2019, R/T Life’s 5.7-liter (345 cubic-inch) HEMI V8 went under the knife at Jannetty Racing in Waterbury, Connecticut, to create something that would amp up his search for more horsepower. Jannetty Racing took the 5.7-liter and created a cammed 6.5-liter (397 cubic-inch) HEMI V8. In its naturally-aspirated state, the 397 HEMI made 449 rwhp and 454 lb.-ft. of torque. Now mind you, Jannetty Racing built this motor to handle boost in the near future.

With more power, comes the need for more traction. When it came to tires and wheels, he ended up going with a set of 20-inch x 11-inch Hellcat Widebody replica wheels from Vicrez. With a -2.5 offset and some new Nitto 315s, the tires stuck out past the body. So most of his followers knew what was coming next.

So before he decided to go any further on his R/T project, he figured that the 2015 Dodge Charger R/T needed a little 2020+ update with an IKON Motorsports 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Replica body kit. The kit set him back roughly $1,700 USD after shipping and came with everything needed, including…
- 2020+ Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Replica Front Fascia
- 2020+ Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Replica Rear Bumper Cover
- 2020+ Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Replica Fender Flares
- 2020+ Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Replica Skirts
- Inner Wheel Liners
- Upper Grille Insert
- Lower Grille Insert
- Fog Light Covers
- Rear Diffuser Lip

The team at AAAA Nassau Collision & Towing in Hempstead, New York painted the body kit to match the car’s B5 Blue exterior paint and installed the kit as well. The shop tried to convince R/T Life to blend the fenders to match the new coats of B5 Blue paint, as it has faded slightly over the past 7 years of the car’s life. R/T Life ensured us that, it would be the next step of the car’s transformation.
With its new body kit, people would be hard-pressed to guess that R/T Life’s car is a 2015 model. The new look gives the car a new lease on life, as the current Charger should be around for another 3 model years before the next generation comes out.
Now comes the next chapter of the Charger R/T’s life… the quest for even more power.
