Playboy-Featured Alfa Romeo Montreal Hits The Auction Block
Rare Restored V8-Powered Italian Classic Hits BringATrailer.com

If you’re into rare vintage cars that mix Italian design with V8 power, there’s an Alfa Romeo Montreal up for grabs right now on BringATrailer.com that you don’t want to miss. This stunning 1975 Montreal—chassis 8339—is one of just 3,925 units built between 1970 and 1977 and has had quite the journey. Originally sold in Frankfurt, Germany, in August 1975, it made its way to the U.S. in 1985 and later underwent a full restoration by The Classic Rides Factory in Calimesa, California.

That 2014 restoration included a full repaint to bright orange, a re-trimmed beige leather interior, and mechanical sorting. And it’s not just a looker—this Montreal packs a 2.6-liter quad-cam V8 with SPICA mechanical fuel injection, factory-rated at 197 horsepower. Backed by a ZF 5-speed manual and limited-slip rear end, it’s a real driver’s car. It even made a splash in the November 2016 issue of Playboy magazine and took home “Best in Class” at the 2021 Quail Motorsports Gathering.

Design-wise, this Montreal is classic Marcello Gandini—think NACA hood scoop, retractable headlight louvers, and slatted C-pillars. Originally painted Oro Metallizzato from the factory, it was red at one point before being resprayed to its current eye-catching orange. The car rolls on 14-inch Campagnolo magnesium-aluminum wheels wrapped in Michelin tires, and stopping power comes from four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. The suspension—borrowed from the Alfa GTV—features a double-wishbone front setup and a live rear axle, all of which were overhauled during its restoration.

Inside, the Montreal sports beige leather bucket seats, black vinyl trim, and a wood-rimmed Hellebore steering wheel. The Jaeger gauges are a work of art, showing 67,000 kilometers (about 42,000 miles). The car also includes air conditioning and electric windows—pretty advanced for a ’70s Italian coupe.

Recently, the fuel system was serviced with a cleaned tank and new pumps and filters. It’s being sold with a ton of extras: restoration photos, magazine feature copy, correspondence from Museo Storico Alfa Romeo verifying its June 20, 1975 build date, and a California title (noting it as a 1972 model due to state labeling quirks).

If you want a rare, concours-winning, Playboy-featured, V8-powered piece of Italian history, head to BringATrailer.com now—bidding ends Friday, June 6, at 5:55 p.m.
