Peugeot Sport To Introduce An Updated 508 Tomorrow
New PHEV Sedan/Wagon To Make Its Debut...
A new teaser video has been released, indicating that the Peugeot 508 is due for a refresh, with the reveal scheduled for February 24th. The teaser suggests that the updated Peugeot Sport Engineered (PSE) performance version may be released simultaneously.
Spy shots of the updated 508 have shown new taillights, updated headlights that appear to be narrower, and a wide, trapezoidal opening in the lower fascia. According to reports, the updated model will also have an updated infotainment system.
The PSE variant of the 508 is currently the most powerful model available from the brand, boasting a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors that produce 355 horsepower (265 kW) and 384 lb.-ft. (520 Nm) of torque. The PSE’s plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system uses an 11.5 kWh battery, providing an electric range of 26 miles (42 km) in the WLTP cycle, and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.2 seconds, with a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
It is not clear whether Peugeot will update any of the 508’s powertrains for this refresh. Peugeot announced plans to launch five electric vehicles (EVs) and a 48-volt hybrid system across several models in the next two years. By 2030, the brand aims to offer only EVs in Europe. Although there was initially speculation that Peugeot would return to the US market following the FCA-PSA merger, the company ultimately decided to focus on Alfa Romeo.
