The Durango R/T is the Dodge brand’s entry-level performance V8 offering for its popular large SUV lineup. While the Durango R/T features a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 which produces a best-in-class 360 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque with a best-in-class tow rating of 7,400 pounds, it is plenty of power for the average Joe. But, what if you are a car guy who has the haul the family around and a four-door Charger R/T won’t cut it? Is it worth modifying a Durango R/T? Or do you just step up and buy a Durango SRT?
Our good friend and MoparInsiders.com contributor R/T Life had a chance to ask one Durango R/T owner those very questions. His answer might surprise you.
We already know that the Dodge Durango SRT is loaded with performance features designed to make it the fastest, most powerful and most capable American three-row SUV. The 6.4-liter HEMI V8 delivers 475 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque and has 4.4-second 0-60 mph acceleration, as well as an NHRA-certified 12.9-second quarter mile.
Nevertheless, it raises the question, would you rather add your personal touch to your vehicle or just get something right from the factory?
