HDRams.com Puts The Off-Road Capable Pickup Through Its Daily Driving Paces...

The 2020 Ram 2500 Power Wagon is the most capable production off-road pickup on the market today. The Power Wagon features a unique suspension, factory suspension lift, locking front and rear differentials, disconnecting sway bar, and even a 12,000-lb. WARN Zeon-12 winch.

We have spent a lot of time with the Power Wagon since the Heavy Duty lineup received its heavy revision last year.  We took the Ram 2500 Power Wagon off-road in the Nevada desert, as well as the mountains of Whistler, British Columbia. But what is it like with the off-road-oriented Heavy Duty Ram on a daily basis?

Ram Trucks was kind enough to send us a 2020 Ram 2500 Power Wagon, to put through the paces over the next week. The updated Power Wagon impressed us off-road, but how does it handle daily driving on the streets of Metro Detroit? Or how about the beautiful scenes of Northern Michigan? What kind of fuel economy does the 410 horsepower 6.4-liter HEMI® V8 with cylinder deactivation get daily travels? That is what we are going to be taking a look at over the next week.

With a U.S. Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $69,890 including destination, this 2020 Ram 2500 Power Wagon is no cheap off-roader. However, it does show us that you can equip the Power Wagon to be just as luxurious as our long-term 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Sport. For those looking for a cheaper option, a Power Wagon content package continues to be available on the Tradesman trim, which includes all the off-road equipment but keeps the Tradesman design elements.

We can’t wait to get on the on-road with this Power Wagon and see what kind of real-world fuel economy the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 now that it is mated with the ZF-sourced 8HP75-LCV 8-speed automatic transmission. So stay tuned to HDRams.com as we will continue to report on our week with America’s most capable off-roader.
