Jeep® Grand Cherokee 4xe Bound For Brazil In October

Will Be The Second 4xe Model To Make Debut In Brazil...

As Jeep® continues to push forward with its electrified agenda towards zero emissions, the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (WL74), which was launched in 2022, represents the most technologically advanced and 4×4-capable Jeep Grand Cherokee yet, delivering 25 miles of all-electric range and 56 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe).

The Grand Cherokee 4xe is designed and engineered to deliver even more of what has made the Grand Cherokee a true global icon in the premium SUV segment, including legendary Jeep 4×4 capability, class-leading space and versatility, and advanced safety features.

Grand Cherokee’s 4xe propulsion system combines two electric motors, a 400-volt battery pack, 2.0-liter turbocharged, four-cylinder engine and TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission for maximum efficiency and capability.

The fuel-efficient 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 engine is part of Stellantis Global Medium Engine family. The high-tech, direct-injection engine uses a twin-scroll, low-inertia turbocharger mounted directly to the cylinder head. Efficiency is enhanced via the use of electric power steering and an electrically driven air-conditioning compressor, removing those loads from the engine.

With E Selec modes, the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe driver can tailor the hybrid powertrain to best suit each trip, whether it be commuting, off-roading or long-distance travel:

    • Hybrid: Blends torque from the electric motor and gas engine. The powertrain will optimize battery and engine power to deliver the best combination of fuel efficiency and performance
    • Electric: Operates on zero-emission electric power only until the battery reaches the minimum charge or the driver requests more torque (such as wide-open throttle), which engages the engine
    • eSave: Prioritizes the engine, saving the battery charge for later use. The driver can also choose between Battery Save and Battery Charge during eSave via the Hybrid Electric Pages in the Uconnect 5 screen

Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe carries a 400-volt, 17-kWh EV battery. The battery units and controls mount underneath the vehicle, packaged under the floor and protected by a series of skid plates.

But thanks to our friends at the Brazilian automotive publication Autos Segredos (Auto Secrets) reporting that the Grand Cherokee 4xe will launch in the Brazilian market in October. It will mark the second 4xe product to be released in what is Jeep’s second biggest global market behind the U.S., on the heels of the Compass 4xe.

According to Autos Segredos, Jeep will only sell the Grand Cherokee 4xe at dealers certified for the 4xe lineup.

The seven-passenger Grand Cherokee L (WL75) was also rumored to be hitting the Brazilian market, and was even caught testing in the region since 2021, however, never made it to the market yet. Instead, the Brazilian arm has released the slightly smaller seven-passenger Commander (H1), which has been a huge success for the brand there.

It is still unclear if the Grand Cherokee 4xe will be the only Grand Cherokee variant offered in the South American country. But it is believed that it could be with the various import taxes, which would push the price of the Grand Cherokee 4xe upward as a premium offering, as the vehicle is produced in Detroit, Michigan.
