Maserati Unveils All-New GT2 Stradale at Monterey Car Week

The Latest Super Sports Car Combines Track Performance with Everyday Comfort...

Maserati has taken the wraps off its latest super sports car, the Maserati GT2 Stradale, during the prestigious Monterey Car Week at The Quail in California. The unveiling on Friday, August 16, marked the global premiere of this highly anticipated model, which blends the thrill of racing with the sophistication expected from a road-going Maserati.

The Maserati GT2 Stradale draws its inspiration from the Maserati GT2, a vehicle designed for the brand’s return to GT competitions, and the Maserati MC20, a car that has become an icon in the brand’s lineup. The result is a super sports car that promises both track-level performance and the comfort needed for everyday driving.

Under the hood, the GT2 Stradale features a powerful engine that delivers 640 horsepower—an increase of 10 horsepower over the MC20. This power boost, combined with a reduction in weight by 60 kilograms (132 pounds), enables the GT2 Stradale to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.8 seconds. The car can reach a top speed of over 320 km/h (199 mph), making it one of the fastest Maseratis ever produced.

Maserati has also focused on the car’s aerodynamics, enhancing its performance on both the track and the road. The design carries over elements from its racing sibling, ensuring that the GT2 Stradale is as visually striking as it is fast.

Customization is a key feature of the GT2 Stradale, with a wide range of options available to enhance both performance and aesthetics. Maserati’s Fuoriserie program allows owners to tailor the car to their specific tastes, with bespoke packages and configurations depending on the market.

Maserati CEO Davide Grasso highlighted the significance of the GT2 Stradale, stating, “Maserati GT2 Stradale is a unique product, bringing together as it does the brand’s greatest sporting heritage, and at the same time representing evolution of one of Maserati’s most iconic vehicles, the MC20 halo car. This model intended for everyday driving was created based on the desire to offer our customers more and more in terms of technical mastery, innovation, design, and emotions in road driving.”

I’ve only seen three MC20s so far on the road here, one blue, one cherry red and one white. The red one came to the Oyster Bay car show and it sounded aggressive and loud as it rolled past me. I liked it... a lot. I did get a chance to see the white one up close too and those lift up doors were an eye catching feature. Will I ever ride in one, doubtful at best. My friend Bob never got the hint in his Maserati GT when I said it was my favorite car, obviously drooling with lust anticipating an invitation while chatting in the parking lot at our yacht club. Never got a ride in that one too. . Thanks Bob! Still hopeful. Bob if your reading this, all is forgiven...pal..
