Maserati Recalls Over 10,000 GranCabrio, GranTurismo, And Grecale Vehicles

Headlight Adjustment Issue Prompts FMVSS No. 108 Noncompliance Recall

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) has announced a safety recall affecting approximately 10,008 vehicles, including select 2024–2025 Maserati GranCabrio, 2024–2025 Maserati GranTurismo, and 2023–2025 Maserati Grecale models.

The issue stems from missing adjustment prevention caps on the headlight assemblies, which can allow access to the horizontal headlamp adjustment mechanism. As a result, the headlamps can be improperly adjusted, potentially creating glare for oncoming drivers or reducing forward visibility for the vehicle operator.

This condition results in noncompliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

The Issue –

2023 Maserati Grecale Trofeo. (Maserati).

FMVSS No. 108, Section S10.18.4, specifies that “a cap covering the horizontal headlamps visually/optically aimable headlamp that has a lower beam must not have a horizontal adjustment mechanism.” Maserati discovered that certain vehicles were produced without the required prevention caps, leaving the horizontal adjustment mechanism accessible.

If the headlamp aim is adjusted outside of the intended parameters, it may lead to insufficient road illumination or excessive glare, both of which increase the risk of a crash.

Maserati has confirmed that this is not a component defect, but an engineering oversight, where the caps were not released into production on certain batches of vehicles.

Affected Models –

2024 GranTurismo PrimaSerie 75th Anniversary Launch Edition. (Maserati).
Model Years Production Dates Estimated Units Affected
Maserati GranCabrio 2024–2025 August 29, 2023 – March 31, 2025 124
Maserati GranTurismo 2024–2025 March 8, 2023 – March 25, 2025 823
Maserati Grecale 2023–2025 June 10, 2022 – September 16, 2025 9,061

Recall Chronology –

2025 Maserati GranCabrio Folgore. (Maserati).
  • May 20, 2025: Maserati S.p.A. was notified of a potential issue during a quality review involving the accessibility of the headlamp aim adjustment mechanism on 2023–2025 Grecale and 2024–2025 GranTurismo and GranCabrio models.

  • May 2025: Maserati S.p.A. opened an internal investigation to evaluate the design and production processes.

  • June–September 2025: Maserati conducted a technical review to understand the failure mode, confirm the issue, and identify the affected vehicle population using production records.

  • October 8, 2025: Maserati S.p.A. determined that certain vehicles were built with accessible horizontal headlamp adjustment mechanisms, leading to a potential FMVSS noncompliance.

  • October 16, 2025: Maserati’s Vehicle Regulations Committee concluded that a noncompliance with FMVSS No. 108 existed in affected vehicles and authorized a voluntary safety recall.

The Remedy –

2025 Maserati Grecale Trofeo. (Maserati).

Maserati North America will inspect and, if necessary, install one or two caps (depending on headlamp type) to cover the horizontal headlamp aim adjustment mechanism.

This corrective action will be performed free of charge at authorized Maserati dealerships. The remedy involves installing the missing prevention caps to bring the headlamp assemblies into compliance.

Owner notification letters are expected to begin mailing on December 12, 2025. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) included in this campaign will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning October 28, 2025.
