Macron Debuts New DS N°8 Electric Presidential Limo

France Unveils First-Ever All-Electric Presidential Car Based on STLA Medium Platform

French President Emmanuel Macron just made history as the first head of a republic to use a fully electric official vehicle. Introducing the PRESIDENTIAL DS N°8, a handcrafted flagship model from DS Automobiles, proudly built on Stellantis’ STLA Medium architecture.

The new DS N°8 is more than just another luxury EV—this one was built specifically for the Élysée Palace and debuted during France’s May 8th, 1945 Armistice remembrance ceremony. Painted in a deep Sapphire Blue with subtle black accents and national flag details, the limo makes a bold but refined statement. The grille itself lights up in blue, white, and red, a nod to the French Republic.

While DS Automobiles is no stranger to official duties—serving seven French Presidents over the past 70 years—this new model represents a turning point. It’s the first time a 100% electric car has been tapped for the job.

Powering the DS N°8 is a cutting-edge ACC battery, built in France and capable of delivering up to 750 kilometers (466 miles) of driving range on a single charge. Real-world capabilities include over 500 km (310 miles) on the highway, 200 km (124 miles) added in 10 minutes, or 20% to 80% charge in just 27 minutes.

Strangely, the N°8 is produced at the Stellantis Melfi Assembly Plant in southern Italy. This high-tech factory is also home to the upcoming European Jeep® Compass (J4U) production, making it a hub for the next generation of electric and hybrid European compact and midsized vehicles under the Stellantis umbrella.

Inside, the PRESIDENTIAL DS N°8 is dripping in French luxury and craftsmanship. DS worked with some of France’s most iconic artisans. The dashboard and doors are adorned with straw marquetry from Lison de Caunes, crafted by hand in sea green and midnight blue tones. Pleated textiles from Atelier Lognon, Dream Blue satin panels from MÉTAPHORES (part of Hermès), and watchstrap-style Nappa leather upholstery stitched in signature DS pearl patterns create a truly elegant cabin.

Security is handled by Centigon, a leading French specialist in armored vehicles, making sure the PRESIDENTIAL DS N°8 is not just stylish—but safe.

And of course, sound quality matters. That’s why FOCAL, a high-end French audio brand, custom-fitted the limo with a premium audio system tailored for the presidential experience.

With production models of the DS N°8 expected to go on sale in September 2025, President Macron is giving the world a sneak peek at what DS calls “the art of travel.” This exclusive model will also be on display at the RÉVÉLATIONS 2025 design and craft exhibition in Paris from May 21st to May 25th, 2025.

In the end, the DS N°8 isn’t just a milestone for French automotive craftsmanship—it’s a statement on where the future of state-level mobility is headed: electric, elegant, and proudly local.
