LEGO® Introduces Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon Technic™ Builder Set:
665-Piece Kit Is The First Time Jeep Has Had An Officially Licensed Kit...
Earlier this week, the LEGO Group and the Jeep® brand revealed its new model for the LEGO® Technic™ series of building kits – the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. The new model is designed to take on the iconic look and design of the most iconic off-road vehicle in the Jeep portfolio. The Technic sets are designed for more advanced builders and feature more complex technical functions, compared to the LEGO building bricks we are familiar with.
Even though there have been thousands of car building kits from LEGO, this is the first time that a Jeep SUV has been made into a LEGO model. The LEGO Technic Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is a 665-piece set, designed to showcase the ruggedness of the actual model. With a button-operated front steering system and powerful axle-articulation suspension, the new Wrangler builder set even gets rugged off-road tires, folding rear seats, and the LEGO take of the classic seven-slot grille.
”The Jeep Wrangler is an icon in the off-road world,” said Lars Thygesen, Designer, LEGO Technic. “The Rubicon has a lot of the iconic details loved by 4×4 fans the world over, so it was important to me to pack as many of the authentic, powerful features of the real vehicle into the LEGO Technic replica. I hope LEGO fans and vehicle lovers enjoy all aspects, including the suspension, winch, and open-air design that we developed alongside the talented Jeep design team.”
“With an 80-year legacy that reaches around the world, our owners, fans, and followers have quite literally grown up with us,” said Christian Meunier, Global President of the Jeep Brand. “Our partnership with the LEGO Group gives our enthusiasts another inclusive opportunity to share the passion they have for the Jeep Wrangler, a global automotive icon that represents fun, freedom, and unbridled adventure.”
“Ask any Jeep Wrangler owner and they’ll tell you that their vehicle is just a bigger version of this new LEGO set,” said Mark Allen, Head of Jeep Design. “The design of the Jeep Wrangler allows them to take it apart, top off, doors off, reconfigure it, add new pieces from our Mopar team, and then put it back together again. This LEGO Technic Jeep Wrangler should bring a new level of joy to our Jeep enthusiasts and help inspire future designers to the brand.”
For those who are looking at purchasing the builder kit before Christmas, you are out of luck. Unfortunately, the set won’t be available until January 1st, 2021. It will go on sale first at LEGO.com and will be available in LEGO retailers around the globe. The kit is designed for the ages of 9 and older. The kit will retail for $49.99 in the United States.
