Laughlin Takes BlackBirdX To The First 6-Second Factory X Run
Dodge Challenger Drag Pak Makes Record Run...

In the world of drag racing, where speed and performance reign supreme. Alex Laughlin recently achieved something truly remarkable behind the wheel of the BlackBirdX Dodge Challenger Drag Pak—a record-breaking 6.976-second pass at an incredible speed of 199.26 mph at Beech Bend Raceway Park. This achievement marks the first-ever 6-second pass in the Factory X car, unofficially.
Laughlin, in his rookie season in Funny Car, has already made a name for himself, piloting the Jim Dunn Racing Valvoline Dodge Charger and in the Pro Stock category.
Initially planned for trailblazing driver Geoff Turk, a testing accident in April dramatically altered Turk’s plans when he suffered a brain hemorrhage, compelling him to undergo immediate surgery. Despite his ongoing recovery, the decision to step aside and allow other drivers some seat time proved to be a wise one. The team won at the NHRA Midwest Nationals with 2012 NHRA Pro Stock World Champion Allen Johnson at the helm, becoming the first Factory X driver to break the 200 mph barrier.
During the recent test session, Laughlin’s performance was spectacular. The BlackBirdX Dodge Challenger Drag Pak displayed a series of consistent passes, including a 7.090 at 198.58 mph, 7.019 at 198.47 mph, and a stunning 7.003 at 198.79 mph, before finally breaking into the 6-second range with the record-setting run.
