Mahindra Changes It’s Roxor UTV Looks To Appease Jeep® Lawyers!

2022 Model Is Already Heading To Dealers...

Mahindra has pulled the covers off of its latest Roxor side-by-side Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTV), with a look much different than the familiar Jeep®-like we have become accustomed to. The reason behind the new look is due to a legal battle between the Indian automaker and Stellantis (then Fiat Chrysler Automobiles).

After the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) upheld a judge’s finding that the Roxor was a copy of the Jeep® CJ, Mahindra was forced to redesign its popular Roxor UTV. The Roxor which is built only a mile or so from the Chrysler Technical Center (CTC) in Auburn Hills, Michigan, has been revamped for the 2022 model year with a more generic look that should appease the Stellantis lawyers.

The Roxor is powered by a Mahindra 2.5-liter direct-injection turbo diesel engine that makes 62 horsepower and 144 lb.-ft. of torque. The Roxor has a Peugeot sourced NGT520 5-speed manual transmission. It features a 2-speed manual transfer case, which is based on the Dana-18, and a speed-limited capability of 55mph (the Indian version can do 80mph) to meet the United States UTV regulations rules.

According to Mahindra, it has already started production of the 2022 Roxor and started shipping the first units to dealers earlier this month. The entry-level model starts at $18,899 USD (minus taxes and whatnot), while an “All-Weather” model has a starting price of $26,299 USD. The Roxor All-Weather comes with a composite cab enclosure, polycarbonate windshield, windshield wiper kit, vintage HVAC system, RoxPower plug and play capability, D-ring brackets, aluminum wheels, and Goodyear tires.
