Kuniskis Says Ram 1500 Ramcharger Delayed Until H2 2025

Ram 1500 REV Pushed Back to Late 2026...

Ram fans eager for the brand’s new electrified pickups will have to wait a bit longer. During a press briefing on Monday, Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis confirmed that the launch dates for both the range-extending Ram 1500 Ramcharger and the all-electric Ram 1500 REV have been delayed.

The Ram 1500 Ramcharger, which was originally slated for a 2025 model-year release, has now been pushed back to the second half of 2025. This means the truck will officially arrive as a 2026 model. Kuniskis cited “overwhelming consumer interest” and “strategic decisions to prioritize” the Ramcharger ahead of the REV’s debut when he returned to the brand in December.

The Ram 1500 Ramcharger offers an innovative powertrain combining a liquid-cooled 92 kWh battery pack with a 130-kilowatt (kW) onboard generator. A 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine drives the generator, converting mechanical power into electrical power for maximum efficiency. This setup also boosts power output when serious performance is needed. Ram targets an impressive 690-mile (1,110 km) driving range, 663 horsepower, and 615 lb.-ft. (833 Nm) of torque. The truck boasts a 0-60 mph time of just 4.4 seconds and best-in-class capabilities, including a maximum payload capacity of 2,625 lbs. (1,190 kg) and a towing capacity of 14,000 lbs. (6,350 kg).

Meanwhile, the fully electric Ram 1500 REV has been delayed even further and is now expected to arrive in late 2026. “Think late 2026,” Kuniskis said, pointing to several factors contributing to the delays, including market demands, policy shifts, and the rising cost of battery production.

The REV’s standard configuration features a 168 kWh battery pack, offering an estimated 350-mile (563 km) driving range. While Ram had initially promised an optional 229 kWh battery providing a 500-mile (805 km) range, we broke the news in January that the option was canceled. The REV’s dual e-motor setup delivers 654 horsepower and 620 lb.-ft. (841 Nm) of torque, enabling a 0-60 mph sprint in 4.4 seconds. Like the Ramcharger, it offers best-in-class payload and towing capabilities and can handle up to 24 inches (61 cm) of water fording depth.

As the electrification of the Ram lineup continues to evolve, these innovative models promise to set new standards in performance and capability — even if the wait is a little longer than expected.
